I had a cold a couple of weeks ago, and last week saw my PCP and found out I had an ear infection. She prescribed liquid amoxicillin, which I have taken since last Tuesday. I still have the ear infection. I left a message with my PCP office today asking if she needed to talk to my baratric surgeon to discuss malabsorption - could this be the reason I can't get rid of the infection? I'm at a loss. I had RNY 10/31/05, and am down 75 lbs. Other than the ear, I feel great!

The liquid is probably better for us than anything else would be. It just may take a little longer for it to work. If your PCP does not change the meds. You might just need to refill it or double the dosage for it to work properly. Marilyn, the Bearlady

It's possible you are malabsorbing your antibiotic. Your surgeon would be better able to answer that question. It's also possible that a different antibiotic might work better on your particular infection.
