Hey all- I am from WI and am coming to Phoenix next week (12/4-12/9) with my DH for a conference. I am wondering what are somethings that I can do while he is in his conference all day. I will be on my own from 7:30-4:30 all week. I haven't been there in years and when I was there it was for Spring Training and to visit a friend that lived there. We really didn't do too much but go to games, so I really didn't have a chance to explore your wonderful state. I don't want to waste an opportunity so I am turning to you, who better to find out about their state then the wonderful members of OH from AZ. I would appreciate any and all (with in reason) suggestions of things to do in the Phoenix area while I am there. Thanks for your hospitality.... Jeanna

WELCOME TO AZ!!!!!! First of all ,are there any activities available to you with this conference? There are all kinds of things to see/do here in town(showup.com is a good resource) We have great shopping, Old Town Scottsdale is popular with visitors(many small shops and galleries to visit), the Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo. If you are adventurous and have a car you could drive to Sedona for the day(breathtaking scenery) or drive south to see San Xavier Del Bac Mission south of Tucson or Sonoran Desert Museum. Maybe you just want to enjoy the weather poolside(we natives don't swim after Labor Day) We have casinos here too! As a native I take so much for granted. Whatever you choose to do(a day at a Day Spa?) enjoy your stay here and relax! I hope you have a fabulous stay! Kathy

Hi Jeanna, If you are into hiking and outdoors...You're coming at the perfect time of the year! I'd suggest hikingaz.com for some choices. Paestewa Peak is one of my favorites! Zoo Lights in the evening is fun....The Mormon Temple Lights in Mesa is the most fantastic Holiday display you can find...they have a free program each evening (outdoors) at 7 p.m. but get there early for a place to park. The Dessert Botanical Gardens is a nice place to visit...the Hear Museum for the naitive flare, Scottsdale Mall is one of the best and old towne Scottsdale for walking and shopping is fun. The science museum is interesting and if you want a fun walking, shopping experience...hit the Arizona Mill's Mall. It's 1 mile around the loop. Take a break and attend the IMAX theatre with the Polar Express in 3D! Rawhide is a fun Western towne experience and has yummy restaurants to nibble at. AND...if you'd like to be my guest, you could attend Dr. Terry Simpson's Holiday Christmas party on Tuesday evening the 6th at the Country Club.... Enjoy your visit! Joyce in Chandler

Oh I wish you had come when I was off work.... The Phoenix Zoo is beautiful this time of year. We took our kids and grandkids a few weeks ago. We rode the train first then walked through the childrens zoo. It has been very cold here the last few days although what your used to is much colder I'm sure. The Arizona Science Center is always fun (not sure whats going on there right now...) Lot's of antique shops and just general shopping... During the week shopping is much better than the weekends this time of year.... Have a great time.... Terri 303/135
