Has Anyone Gotten Lap-Band Surgery with Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana?

Hi Everyone. I am scheduled for surgery on August 25th. My parents aren't speaking to me because I chose Tijuana. But I have to self-pay. I've researched til I'm blue in the face and Dr. Ortiz seems very qualified. Someone wrote that the hospital was shabby. Is that true. Website pictures don't suggest that. If anyone from N. Phoenix area needs fills in TJ in about 2 months maybe we could go and share cab expenses!

Catherine, I was also a self pay, and I chose to stay here in phoenix. I had a great experience here. Dr. Simpson was the greatest. I wanted the comfort of staying local if there were any complications. I know I made the right decision. I know this choice is tough. Good luck to you. Jennifer

I have met 3 patients that went to TJ for lap-band because their insurnace wouldn't cover it here. All are doing great and losing steadily! Sorry your parents aren't supporting you through this. That has to be tough. It's hard to make people understand, especially family. But we support you and are rooting for you 100%!!! I was a Self pay and went to Dr. Simpson also. He is the greatest. I get to drive this Friday for my first fill from him.
