Tucson support groups
This Tucson-based group was created to provide information, support, and encouragement to those individuals in Southern Arizona who have had Gastric Bypass Weight Loss Surgery (WLS) or who are considering having the surgery. Our desire is for each member to obtain info to make the life decision best suited for them individually. Topics of discussion/information include, but are not limited to, insurance coverage, exercise, nutrition, pre-op and post-op updates. This is a close-knit group with two monthly get-togethers (East and Northwest meetings) and pot luck/clothing exchange. Surgeons currently performing the surgery and represented here by their patients are: (TUCSON) Dr. Patrick Chiasson, Dr. Nicholas Metzger and Dr. Stephen Burpee (PHOENIX) Dr. Hilario Juarez, Dr. Daniel Fang, Dr. Darwin Zahn, Dr. Alan Newhoff, and Dr. Robin Blackstone. Helpful pre and post-op information exists in our Files and Database areas (see the panel choices at the left of this page, especially files, database and calendar. Just click to view what's in the folders. There are almost 100 files of information! After joining please edit your profile (click Edit my Membership in the upper right hand corner area) and include information in our Phonebook database. When your surgery is scheduled please place it on the Calendar and in the Surgery Date database. As your new life unfolds tell us of your progress on our database of Post-ops and don't forget you can include Photos too!! ---- NorthWest meeting 7-8:30 PM each 3rd Monday of the month at the Northwest Medical Center Classrooms A-D 6200 N LaCholla Blvd. Classrooms are off the main lobby behind the cafeteria. New attendees in classroom D at 6:30 PM. ---- Eastside meeting remains the first Tuesday of each month in the ElDorado Hospital classroom, 1400 N Wilmot.
