I would like to know how people are feeling after they have surgery. What are the worse complications people are facing after they have RUY surgeries. I am looking to have laproscopic done and I was wondering how many people are having complications if any. How are you feeling? Any pain? How is the eating? How about the energy? Are you able to do things at home or is this where you have to rest alittle before getting into gear again.

Hello... I'm 14 1/2 months post-op and although I had a female surgery and a hernia repair in the last 6 months both things were presurgery problems. I have lost 151 pounds and I truely feel reborn. I have a ton of energy and have enjoyed the Grand Canyon and even hiked down and back out 1.5 miles. This would never have been a consideration before surgery. I have no pain just a little discomfort when I eat too much. I chew a gasx and it helps very quickly. I've come along way since surgery but it seems like only yesterday. It's a journey to say the least. It's a tool you are given to help you do what you have not been able to do on your own. You must be prepared with your mind, body and soul to take this journey. Wishing you much success in making you decision. Read lots of journals... Taught me alot and helped me realize what it was going to take for me to be successful... Sending angels to watch over you.... Terri 303/153/151

I thank you very much for the input. I do know that if I do not have the surgery, I will lose my one leg. I want so much to have a life again. This is my dream is to be able to go and do things. It is so hard to even do my housework, sometimes I feel so bad and it takes so much for me to get threw the day.It is so woonderful to hear that people are doing everything that they want to be able to do. My family doctor told me this is proably boing to be the best decission that I have made, he is so very excited for me. I was just trying to get myself ready for the after results, trying to prepare myself. I want to be as ready as I can be for this when it comes. Again I thank you for the input. and I thank you for the angel. Hopefully I will be hearing for my turn. I have everything done for the insurance now, and I am waiting to hear from teh doctor in Vegas, I do know I have to go see a psychologist that is in Vegas along with my visit to the surgeon. Again I thank you so much.

Diana, I had surgery back in May, so I'm now shy of 5 months out. I had open RNY with Dr. Alan Newhoff. (His partner, Dr. Simon, does lap.) The surgery went great, and I was out of the hospital by the 3rd day (which he says is standard with his insured patients - they may try to get you out by day 2 if you're self-pay just to help you save $$$). I always tell people I was BLESSED - no major complications to speak of. In fact, the only complaint I ever really had was severe leg cramps, and after he had me change up & add a couple of supplements, those went away. Other than that, I had the basic incision pain. I am feeling very good these days; I was extremely fatigued in the first 2 months, but my energy level is much better now. I do walk about 1.25 miles at least 4 times a week (I am trying to increase the length & add another day in there). I also always tell this story with a BUT - I thank God every day that things went so well, because I know not everyone can say the same. Please do your research & go with a surgeon you are comfortable with. When the doctors tell you to do things - DO THEM. Good luck in your journey! Angie S. 400/313/???

I thank you so much for the information. I am going to Vegas to Dr. Fisher and I have not had my appointment with him yet. I have done all the test and now I am waiting on the doctor to get back with me. I figure it is now the waiting game for the insurance. I am so excited about having this surgery, I am looking for a second chance on life. I want to live a full life and not have the pain that I have now and the problems with just moving around. It is so wonderful to hear how people are doing and there is alot of different things that other people can help with. That is what I look at. I pray for all who have this surgery. I thank God for giving the idea and the technique to the professionals that do this the right way and the proper way. I feel that the God almighty helps all of us to come to these decissions. Thank you for all your input.

Hi Diana...i'm so glad that you are doing thorough research. kudos to you! i am one of those cases that has had some complications..some bumps in the road. right after surgery, they had to do exploratory surgery because they didn't know what was causing me to be so sick...turned out i had some scar tissue and adhesions, and had developed an ulcer in my new pouch. about 6 weeks ago, i had my gallbladder removed...before then i was really sick, but no tummy pain. now i have had the same symptoms return, so i've been sick off and on for about 3 months. i go see a gi specialist in a week. i suspect my ulcer is back..proly have more than one. even with these "bumps", i'm still glad that i had the surgery. there's no way i would have lost 95lbs in 7 months on my own....i would prolly be even larger by now, and just miserable. good luck on your journey...keep us updated as to what u decide!

Thank you Katie, I am sorry to hear that you have had some complications with your after surgery. Sometimes we never know what is in store for us before or after our surgeries. The main thing is that you are focused on what is happening, and what to do. I do hope that all your problems will be taken care of soon. I hope that my surgery goes well, and is very soon. Right now I do believe that I am waiting on the insurance. I have not heard anymore from my doctor. They are to let me know what I am to do next. So please take care of yourself and I will have you in my prayers. May God be with you and Bless you. Thank you again for your input, please let us know how you are doing.
