AZ SUPPORT GROUPS LIST

This is all gleaned and no credit given to anybody. If you see something you've posted here, just be glad it's getting re-posted and getting out there to those who need it. If you see any contradictions or misprints, you'd like to correct, please let me know. You can usually contact the hosts of these groups for more info, as well. Also, if you have any additions, I'd love to put them in. Still trying to find support groups for people in Yuma, Nogales, Flagstaff, Sedona, Havasu, etc. Maybe someone here will see the need and start one. Not too hard to do. I'll try to post this collection every month so that new people can easily find an Arizona support group in their area. Northside Meets at Northwest Hospital third Monday of each month at the same hours. There is a support group for WLS patients in Sierra Vista. The group meets the 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month in the Banquet Room at La Casita Restaurant at 6:00pm. Here are the details: Chandler WLS Support! Frye and Dobson @ the new Morrison Center, adjacent to Chandler Regional Hospital) 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, followed by dinner out...... The very first meeting will begin on Thursday, June 22nd! It will have all of the same features that make many of the groups so comfortable and fun; an angel program, exercise expert, specialist speakers, potlucks, protein sampling, dining out experiences, etc. There is also a Yahoo group for the Chandler group. This group meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month at Banner Mesa (Country Club and Brown). The meeting room is just off the cafeteria on the ground floor near the front entrance. Meeting time is from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Often several in the group continue on to dinner at a restaurant that caters to our WLS needs. (Copper Creek restaurant did a wonderful job for us last time!) We meet the 2nd Tuesday each month at 7:00 PM. The group is for any one who has has surgery at the Bartric Treatment Centers. Next meeting is next Wednesday, May 26 at 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Search the groups.yahoo site for eastside_azwls. I would put the url here, but I think it is against obesityhelp rules and am not sure why. Barix Centers has a meeting on the third Tuesday of each month at their center in north Scottsdale and the time for that is 6 p.m. Address is 17500 N. Perimeter Drive in Scottsdale. I believe that there is also a central valley group for all WLS people that meets at Banner Mesa (Country Club/Brown Road) off the cafeteria on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday or Thursday of the month. I have not attended so am not positive about which day, but I believe Wednesday and I believe the time is 6 p.m., but you would need to call the hospital to make sure. Also a new group ~ WLS Health & Fitness Support Group Meeting : "We meet on the second and fourth Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Mesa Family YMCA in the Conference room. This is located at 207 North Mesa Drive in Mesa. ItÕs just south of University on Mesa Drive. Our Membership is open to all WLS patients who would like help with their weight loss through a vigorous and well rounded exercise program. The first part of our meetings will be an open discussion group where we can discuss all topics related to Exercise and WLS.
