Convincing your PCP

Does anybody have any ideas on how to convince my PCP to give me a referral for surgery.

One thing I tried was: I asked the WLS Doctor's office which Doctors under my provider worked well with them and I changed Doctors and had all my records forwarded to his office.

Hi Tanya, Joy had a great response for you. Find out which doctors work well with the bariatric surgeons from the surgeons' point of view. And then switch doctors. Some PCP's have biases about WLS and there will be no convincing them to "change their mind" so it's better to find those who don't have thoses biases and work with them. It's usually enough of a battle to get your insurance carrier to approve WLS so no point in having to battle your PCP too! Good luck! Tammy
