I am craving ice cream like crazy. Any idea's what I can try that I won't dump on? I see Baskin Robins has some no sugar added ice cream. Online it says it only has 4 grams of sugar for a 3oz scoop. Anyone ever have Baskin Robin's? Does it taste good? Just looking to fix this darn craving LOL!

Make your own!

1 1/2 scoops chocolate protein powder into 2 oz of cool tap water
Whirl a second in your magic bullett

Add 1 Tbsp cool whip and crushed ice,  pulse just a second.  Tastes like a Wendy's choc frosty.

And...try getting the cold-sweet flavor that you can get from ice cream in other textures.

Cheesy dessert (good for those on low carb programs)
>
> 2 parts ricotta (I do the 8 oz whole milk ricotta)
> 1 part or more of cream cheese softened (so 4 oz or more)
> 2 parts heavy cream whipped
> sweetener to taste (use the syrups you like - I use almond and vanilla together
> - otherwise it's 10 - 12 splenda packets I think and using vanilla extract
> and almond extract)
> 1 part sour cream (4oz)
>
> first whip the cream. add sour cream, ricotta, cream cheese and sweetener.
> It's good right away and even better after it sits in the fridge for a
> while. Makes a big batch, but you might want to freeze some or else scale it
> all back to half or a quarter. Good with toasted almonds on top too.

Eleanor's Chocolate Cheesecake Pie

Take 16 oz. tub of ricotta and a standard size block of softened cream
cheese. Combine them (hand mixer works well), adding a bit of cream as
needed to loosen up the mixture a bit, adding a package of SF pudding
mix (is there any flavor other than chocolate?). Tastes like chocolate
cheesecake without the crust. I suppose you could do a crust with nuts
if you wanted to.

Keep in refrigerator.

My families favorite:  Orange Protein Fluff!

1 large cottage cheese (I like 2% small curd)
Cool Whip (medium size)
large s/f orange jello
Stire dry jello mix into cottage cheese.  Stir in cool whip.  I add drained mandarin oranges an sometimes pineapple tidbits (draine).  ....  When I make this for newbie's, I leave out the fruit and add a scoop of flavorless protein powder.  YUMMY!

Another easy dessert for summer:

Green Gravy
1 box s/f pistaccio pudding
Stir dry pudding into a box of crushed pinapple (do not drain)
Stir in Cool Whip

You can mix the dry pudding flavors with the cool whip....and leave out the fruit.  Try stirring in Greek yogurt to boost hte protein.  Yum!!!

It's great to keep some kin of "WLS friendly" cool treat in the freezer or refrigerator throughout our long hot summer or else we'll be checking out all the ice cream places!  LOL!

Go easy on the S/F ice creams.  There's still a lot of carbs and the lactose can kill most of us!

I've had the BR no sugar added ice cream.  I did ok with it until someone brought me the pineapple/coconut.  I dumped on that big time but I think it had more sugar because of the pineapple.  I usually do the butter pecan but the person treating us at the bank didn't know that.  I also have bought the Fry's no sugar added ice cream which has no sugar but does have sugar alcohols and don't have any trouble with it but I don't eat a lot of it either.  A couple spoonfuls usually takes the craving away.

I have a problem with ice cream....  I can eat it without any dumping.  Tried it a couple of times and no problems.  I do not enjoy it as much as I used to.
