Scared about revision

I know I need to have a revision, but I'm nervous.  I was in my 20's the first time I had surgery and now I'm in my mid 30's.  I know I'm still young, but surgery is still surgery and not something to take lightly.

I know I need to call and have my PSYCH evaluation done and thats the last thing left on my check list before Dr S's office submits the paperwork to insurance.  I think for me I have been trying to change my eating behaviors now so I know forsure that I will not fail the second time around.  I went back to my old eating habits, junk food etc and of course now I find out I have a rupture in my staple line.  Who knows when that happened but I dont want it to happen again.

What kind of things did you do prior to surgery or after surgery to make sure you never went back to your old ways?

Thank you.

Jen

I have found that if I stick to an Atkins like plan, thats what works best for me .  Dr S  will tell you to stick to your proteins and loose the carbs.

I had hernia repaired this a.m. and meds are hitting me hard again.  but egg drop soup is my friend right now  and guess what - no carbs

i was looking into South Beach, I dont know much about atkins other than the original plan that my dad used to do years ago where the carbs are practically nothing.

I will have to go check out a library book and read about the differences.  I know I need to do a low GI index diet as I have PCOS, so I will have to see how those fit into the plan.

I hope you feel better soon!

Hey Jen,

I live low carb and glutten free since my revision.  No worries.....there are VERY yummy options and you just learn to repeat things you like that are good for our systems......getting new "usuals" that can be whipped up easily and often.  Here's some good links...

Also...I am on a GREAT support site that is International and all have had WLS of some type...many revisions as well.  These folks are committed to being compliant forever with their low carbing.  The group is free....here's the info:

I tested negative for celiac but was counseled by Dr. Simpson AND Dr. Schlesinger to try gluten free eating for a while to see if it would relieve some of my issues, (painful bloating and all that accompanies that )  It worked SOOOOO fast and well that we knew it was the food program for me!!!

So, I consider myself gluten sensitive or yup:  allergic to gluten.  It won't kill me if I have something with it in but not only do I wish someone would kill me; .....they are more than willing to oblige!  LOL!

My energy increase was the first and remains the best side effect to bein gluten free!

I LOVE it!  I won't go back!

Sooooo....I live "low carb an gluten free"!!!!

So nice to have met you too sweet friend!  Good luck on your new journey and keep us posted!

You are welcome to come to the Revision/HM group on Thursday if you'd like.
