Has anyone used Dr. Podkamini?

Hello all -

I signed up on OH 4.5 years ago when I was first investigating bariatric surgery. Two years ago I had my first visit with the Good Samaritan Bariatric Center. While I have been thinking about it for a long time, it wasn't until my Type II diabetes got out of control and I required 5 shots of insulin a day, that I got serious.  I was through the entire process with my paperwork at the insurance company when I found out that BGSMC was closing their bariatrc program!

I had to start all over with Banner Gateway and attend more information sessions and see Dr. David Podkamini. He was very professional and spent the time with me that I needed. I saw him on 2/11 and got approved by insurance on 2/18! I am just waiting to hear back from surgery scheduling on a date. I am so happy I can hardly believe it's true. I just keep waiting for someone to want something else, as I have jumped though the hoops twice!

If anyone else has used Dr. P. I would like to know how you like him and how surgery went.  Thanks.

Nancy

My surgeon was Dr.. Schuster who is in practice with Dr. Podkamini.  i feel both surgeons are extremely competent.  I checked out their backgrounds and was satisfied.  I also can not say enough good things about what a wonderful program they have there at Banner Bariatric Gateway - the program is just as important as the competency as your surgeon in maintaining long-term success with your WLS.

I have been very happy with everyone associated with their practice!  You are in good hands!

Though it has not been my pleasure to meet either Dr. Schuster or Dr. Podkamini (love saying that name!) .....I will give a big High Fives to the Banner Gateway program as well!  They open their doors to all to come to their support meetings and believe me...my time has been well spent there!!!!  I LOVE Donna their nutritionist (charismatic red head from N.Y.!) and Dr. Goodhall their psych (she's totally got us pegged!).

Good luck and let us know if we can help you in any way!

Dr. Podkemini was my surgeon.  He is fabulous.  I love his office and staff.  They are so very helpful and always there. My husband was so impressed with them he is actually going with them to have his surgery done as well.   If I can help or answer anything for you let me know.
