Where are people finding Calcuim now?  The Walgreens by me now only has Calcium Carbonate now in the chewables.

I think it's really hard to find in stores.  I have switched to Citrical Petites pills since I can now swallow pills without trouble.  However before that I was using Bariatric Advantage chewable caclium and if you want a local place to get it they carry it at the spa at Scottsdale Shea hospital.  It's right there in the lobby just to the right of the front desk when you walk in.  My first calcium citrate I got at hi health but the citrus flavor really got to me after a while.

I buy big bottles of Calcium Citrate at Sam's Club.  Really good prices too.  Bariatric Advantage is now coming out with Calcium Carbonate chews.

We need Citrate after a RNY right?  I thought our bodies cannot absorb Carbonate without acid, or do I have this backwards?

Sorry, I got that wrong about Bariatric Advantage, they are Calcium Citrate that they are coming out with.  Citrate is what we need.

I was told that Calcium Citrate is absorable but not Carbonate (that part of the small intestines was removed).

I take regular calcium citrate pills as my doc said I was ok to swallow them.  First 2 months out I bought petites and cut them in half for easier swallowing.  Never could find chewables and Bariatric Advantage seems too high priced for me.

Ray, I go to GNC and get the liquid calcium citrate.  In one tablespoon, there's 1200 mg of calcium..  That's almost your daily supply.  It also doesn't taste bad and is easier to swallow than those horse pills you buy that are so hard you can't break them with a hammer much less try to absorb them in your pouch.  I also use Upcal D on the weekends, I just mix a couple of scoops in each bottle of decaffeinated tea I make.

Ann,

I did not know that your body could absorb 1200 mg of liquid calcium at one time. I thought you have to divide the dosage up. Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought your body can only absorb up to 300mg at a time...I take a cherry flavor chewable calcium citrate and they taste great.

I do know that the calcium pills I get from Sam's Club do disolve in water in about 5 minutes because I tested them.

I saw those today.  Big pills and I did not think about putting in water.
