Hello all just got off the phone with Sonia from Dr. Burpee's office and it seems that I have been denied based on my  psychological evaluation.  She said that they denied because he wrote that on a day I had eaten some fast food and they took it as that is all I eat and would not change my eating habits, that really makes me sad because I have changed my eating habits.  She suggested that I try and get him to retract the statement and see if he can write saying that I have changed and I am eating differant.  Anyone have any suggestions besides what she said I could do????

That's a bummer.  Is there anything you can do to show the psychologist that you have changed?  I know I keep a food log and maybe by showing that, they will at least give you another chance.

Also, you might try another psychologist.  You might have to pay for it but if you can get authorization, it'll be worth it.

I flunked my pysch eval too!  And....I was sooooo ticked off it made me more determined to get approval!!!!  .....  I flunked because I am a binge eater!!!  I had to go through several weeks of meeting with an eating disorder's specialist type psych in order to resubmit.  It was NOT covered by insurance either BUT......we do what we have to do y'know???

Poor a little honey in a conversation with the psych and ask for a couple of counseling sessions to fix your fast food issue.

.....when it's all said and done...with my perfect 20/20 hindsite....I realize that I absolutely positively AM a binge eater!!!!  The psych testing was right on the nose!!  ....Getting our head lined up with our new plumbing aka ...weight loss tool, is the perfect recipe for success!!!

If that is truly your only piece yet to fit into the approval puzzle then take it seriously and get some help.

Hang in there!  It is soooooooooo worth it!

Being recently denied myself (no proof of exercise) I can fully understand your frustration and feelings.

Joyce and Ann have great suggestions and you (we) just need to treat this as a bump in the road but keep moving forward.

I have three months of multi disiplinary work to conquer before I can resubmit and I am three weeks in and they have been very long three weeks and this three months seems like an eternity right now.

Don't let this bump affect your motivation!

I am going to try hard not to let it get me down it is hard, cause I know in my mind that I would not eat those bad things.  I have been eating things that my nutirtionist had me try to see if I could do it if I did get the surgery.  Thanks for the advice.

I would talk to  the shrinkie dink that  wrote the report and sell yourself  on why you need the surgery and how you know  it will change your life and commit to  counseling ..

Fast food mourning was very hard for me ... I  can eat  some now - but very carefully thought out ... lets see  Taco Bell ... refried beans ,  chicken soft taco -  get rid of shell and add   meat and cheese to beans - yumm !  I am a cheap date for  under $3.00

He knows how much it means to me, I just need to show  him that I have been eating differant and see if he will change his report or call my doctors office in his report he also states that he fills that I am a good canidate for the surgery and that he fils with support and some counsling when I need it that I would do good after the surgery that is why I am scrathing my head... Waiting on a return call from him..

I had to go to behavior modification as part of my pre op stuff. That ended up being a good thing (who doesn't have food issues). Maybe you can try that. Good luck!

I wonder if I just went to someting like that on my own without being told?? I just got off the phone with my shrink and he said he could not believe that they denied me because of that and that he was going to call them and tell them that they took it out of context what he wrote.  He reassured me that one way or antoher I ws going to get the surgery because like he said what he wrote that I am a good canidate for the surgery.  Thanks all for your responses..
