Well, hi again.

I am finally adjusting to the idea of staying home for the surgery in Edmonton.  Was up there yesterday and saw the dietician , RN and Psychologist.  They are all fairly new to their jobs so I think I know as much or more than they do about bariatric surgery....anyhow they are all very nice people.

I had a barium swallow last week and I guess it showed a hiatal hernia so now I am booked for an endoscopy next Thursday (another trip to Edmonton!)  and then hopefully the doc will tell me a date for my surgery and which surgery he thinks is best....still think it will be the lap-band and hopefully early December.
This is getting expensive too.  It is a four hour drive to Edmonton from my place . and my appointments are usually early so we end up going up the day before ,staying in a hotel etc.
It sure seems like a long drive some days but ....c'est la vie!!!

Not looking forward to maybe having to do it in a blizzard later on.

If all goes well with the endoscopy , I may be able to come to Arizona for three or four weeks before my next set of appointments at the end of November.....sure hope so.  My husband is already having ARizona withdrawal symptoms!!!

Well. I'll keep you all posted and I will not give up on this...I'm going to get slim one way or another  and so far I haven't been able to figure out how to get my vaccuum to do liposuction !!!

Eydie!

You are going to be the cutest little Canadian girlfriend that we know!!!!  Maybe those new folks at the surgeon's office will fall madly in love with you and all of your info and ask you to facilitate a support group for them????  If you have to drive over once a month anyway, you might as well put the word out across Canada that there will be  Meet and Greet and rally the troops for a support system!

Driving in blizzards?    Brrrrrrrrr!  I'm from Idaho originally so traveling in treacherous weather was part of life!  ..... Definitely a part I like to file in the back of my memory bank though!  .....  No snow shoveling going on at my house anymore!  LOL!  .....  Every year when I grumble about seeding the winter grass, my DH reminds me that it's better than shoveling the driveway and sidewalks daily!!!

o.k. so I wasn't rubbing sunshine in your chilly wounds sweetie....just wanting to send a cheery note your way. "If" you do head our direction then be sure and hook up with us at one of the zillions of Holiday events and support groups coming up!

Well, just know that I am here to cheer you on!  You CAN do this!  You have the motivation to suceed with this procedure. Just put the blinders on and plow ahead...through the winter weather and the extra weight....it will come off and you will feel so good physically while you do it. My niece has been very successful with her lap band and with a hubby who is very active in his military career,  and 3 little ones (1 set of twins) under the age of 4, she is super busy and still finds the time to attend her group meetings and watch her diet. She too wanted the RNY but it just did not work for her at the time and so she chose the lap band instead and is very happy now that she did.

Please keep us posted how things are going...you have buds here to cheer you on and post photos so we can keep up with you!

Eydie, you can always recuperate in sunny Arizona this winter.  I will be watching for you to pull up in that motor home so we all can sit & gab.  You'll do very well with the lap band, just follow the rules and you'll be losing just like the rest of us.
