Is this werid?
I can barely eat anything, when I do eat I eat a little bit maybe a tablespoon or 2 (half a scrabmled egg) and I get this tightness in my throat and chest and can't eat anymore. I am having a hard time getting all my protien in and I am getting worried, I feel very tired and weak.
I am going to try eggfaces protien icecream to try getting some more protien in.
I found a smootie reciepe for my protien shake that i like and am able to get down, But now i just can't eat much.
Is this normal? Am I eating too little ?

When I would get the tightnress I found I was eating to quickly. I still do it and am 5 months out now. You really do have to eat very slowly. Did your NUT give you one of those tiny little white spoons and a clear plastic med cup to measure your portions with? The spoon is the one they use to give out samples with at a deli or the pink one that comes in the pouches of Sweet N Low. When they say tiny bites and eat s-l-o-w-l-y....they really mean it.
I had the same problem with protein...and still do. I struggle daily with that one and use bullets for protein on many days. I know it is not the perfect protein but it is better than none for now.I try to eat as much protein as I can at this point. I bought the ice cream maker and tried the frozen protein...it did not work for me. There is something in all the proteins I have tried that makes me nausous and have emisis. Hence the bullets for me for now.
I do not think you are eating to little...sounds about right to me. I am still at about 1/4 cup of food at 5.5 months and you are much newer.
2 Tablespoons was all I could eat and sometimes not that, for a couple of months. Eat what you can, use your guidelines from your surgeon and do your best. Believe me fretting will only make it worse. As you heal and time passes this will get easier for you.

Robin,
Have you tried the greek yogurt yet? I use this everday to help bost up my protein. 1 serving is 22grams.. You can find it at trader joes, they have there own brand with 0 fat . I mix it in with my protein powder and ice and its good..
I know it sucks I am 3 months out and still having issues with food.

Robin,
What you are experiencing is very normal. Eat small bites, and chew well. It's normal after RNY to only be able to eat a few bites, pay attention to that pain and stop eating. I have been having trouble too with just getting liquids in, so I haven't done the protein shakes again yet. Keep up the good work and take it slow.

Hi there,
Just to let you know everything that you are feeling is completely normal. I am 3 years out and still have that problem with eggs and chicken if I eat to fast. You need to take it slow and stick to blended and pureed foods till your body is ready. I eat less than a teaspoon when I was a month out. It took a couple of months before I could handle a spoon full of egg. Be prepared what may go down OK one day may not go down as well the next. I still cannot handle foods high in fat and especially pancakes!!!! Talk about sick..... So there are going to be good days and bad but you will get through it. Goo Luck!!!!
