I need to whine

Ann....could your shoulders be frozen by any chance?  Moving arms and shoulders is almost impossible if they are. I have had them 5 times now. The last time was super bad. I have had no other pain that came close to this. Could only sleep in a recliner with heavy meds.  It went on for 3 months until I found a really good physical therapist. One ortho doc had me raise my arm stright up while lying down...which took me 10 minutes. Had I known what he was going to do I would have killed him...he grabbed my wrist and elbow and slammed it down  so it was parallel with my body....that should only be done under anesthesia as it actuals tears the tissue. Unfortunately my PT gal is no longer working but I had to see a pain specialist also and it ended up with me in the 3 week pain management program at Del Webb hospital.  Disability is going to take a good while....hope you have a good lawyer?  I was turned down the first time then got my attorney. Still a pretty long wait for court time but then it was granted. I hope you get some relief....I sympathize!

Ann,

I see Dr. Ando at West Valley Pain Management.  They're at 6760 W. Thunderbird #E100 and the number is 623-792-1009.   I especially like the Physician's Assistant Robyn Sears because she's really patient and explains EVERYTHING.

In addition to other meds, I'm taking Neurontin which is really helping with nerve pain.  I couldn't take Lyrica because of swelling, but the Neurontin seems to be helping.

You might want to ask about trigger point injections.  My sister and step-mother get those in the neck and shoulders and they seem to help.  They're not as invasive as the regular steroid injections and seem to follow the nerve paths.  I had one done on my hip a few weeks ago and while the pain isn't gone, it's better.  http://www.neurologychannel.com/tpi/index.shtml

I'm on Neurontin too but I don't think any of it is helping but I'm afraid of what the pain would be if I stop it all.  I see Dr. Badalamenti at Sun Health Pain Management Center.  He's really good but he, like the rest, don't know what's causing the problem.  I had the trigger point shots last week.  The left side pain went away pretty much but the right side lasted all of 12 hours.  I'm game for doing it one more time but if it doesn't get any better, then I'll cancel that.  I also think I'm going to try acupuncture but at $85 a lick, I don't know how many I can afford to do.  I think I'll check with Dr. Badalamenti on the pain patch.  That might be the answer to it all if it works.  I hate being on oxycontin and if I could get off that and the percocet, I'd be really happy.

Ann, my niece is a licensed accupuncturistand is very, very good. She works at Banner Estrella Medical Center and also does out call. I don't think she would charge anywhere near $85.00. If you are interested I will PM you her phone number. She has treated me for fibro and other problems and I would not recommend her unless she were good. I hope you get some relief soon.

Yes, please do.  The lady I was going to see is in Scottsdale and that's a long way to drive.  I have to see her every week in sales training so I'll have to let her down easy so she doesn't take it personally.  I think she'll understand  how much it hurts to drive there (the truth).   If not, she'll just have to get over it.  Gena, do you know if acupuncture is covered by insurance?  That would really help a lot.

Ann...my insurance pays for me to have 12 treatments a year.  I have never used it with Toni because I had treatments before she went to work at the hospital and it would be terribly expensive for her to set up to take insurance. Now that she is at the hospital I really don't know. She can tell you when you call her though.  There is someone else I can refer you to at 75th ave between T-Bird and Bell. He is my husbands chiro and he also does accupuncture and does take insurance. His name is Hibner and number is 623-334-5010. Mobile number is 602-999-0443. He does not believe in dragging out treatment either and will cut you loose as soon as he feels you are ready. He is very good about that. He did both txs for my Jim.
