Hey Gary! I'll be thinking of you tomorrow morning.  I'll be in a plane about the time you start your surgery so I'll send good thoughts down this time instead of up! C U on the skinny side!

My surgery is on temporary hold. When I was at the hospital an issue with my medical history was brought up that requires me to get one (I hope only one) more further test to make sure I was good to go. Dr. Schlesinger will not risk the surgery or my health unless he has all of the answers. I was really disapointed,  but I understand that Dr. Schlesinger will only do whats right for me and my health. Keep the loser bench warm because I hope to be there soon.

You have the right attitude !! better safe than sorry ...  we have lots of bench warmers .. but your spot is saved !  How soon can they get the test done ? Any Idea when surgery will be ?  For the record P.V. hopsital was not too bad !  I think it helps if you an inpatient and not just a sleep over . the girls are very nice and will gladly walk you around ...

Gary, If they question anything in your history it is a benifit to you. I like Dr Schlesinger even better. I hope he is real careful with me as yourself. That is a sign of a good surgeon. Don't be sad be glad he is double checkingthings out. Keep me posted. Dawn

Its a long story.  I have discussed the issue with all of my doctors that I did the pre-clearance stuff with and listed in on all of the forms that I filled out. I don't think that all of the doctors that I saw included the information in their reports that they forwarded to Dr S.  When I mentioned it as a "just a reminder" to the anesthesia guy he had raised the red flag and spoke with Dr S. and they agreed that It is better to be safe than sorry. I will say that Dr S. and Jenn in his office have been awesome today in getting me scheduled with a specialist more than a week sooner than I could have done so myself . I hope to get cleared real soon and be back in the saddle and get this thing done. Also, I admit the protein shake diet thing was a pain, but I am through the worst of it and I have lost a Ton. (figureatively, (sp) not literally) Losing weight is the goal after all. So that time is not wasted. I will maintain my loss and maybe try to squeeze in a few more pounds before the surgery. The more I lose pre-surgery, the less of a risk I have during it.

I'm so sorry to hear about the delay in  your surgery, I  know how frustrating that must  feel.  But  I also believe  that things happen for a reason Gary!   I have every reason to believe that your surgery willl be re-schedule  ASAP and  that you will have a wonderful healthier life as a post -op.  Dr. Schlesinger's  promise to ALL his patients is:  " I will give you the trueth as best I know it, and my BEST EFFORT." I am sure that he would never take a risk or jeopordize your health or life.  Your success is as important to him as it is to you.   Your safety and health are his top priority.  You couldn't be in better hands than Dr. Schlesinger's!!!  With his support , and the assitance of his wonderful staff, including his Bariatric Coordinator Jen,  you are in GREAT hands!!! I will be thinking possitive thoughts for you so that everything works out soon.  Use this extra time you will now have to find even more protein flavors that you enjoy.  And remember:  This is a journey.  It  is not a sprint. but a marathon.  You are not alone, just hang in there and move forward with positive thoughts and an eye on the prize.....HEALTH! Keep your chin up.   There are many of us to lean on through thick and thin :) Take Care! Kathy W

OMG! OMG!! You are so lucky that you *ahem* happened to *mention* something to the anesthesiologist right before the surgery!!! Good for you! If I knew how to do those smiley face thing-a-ma-jig's, I'd put one *here*. Maybe if you continue with pre-surgery diet, you won't need surgery at all!! LOL *insert smiley face thing here* I read here that you have to be your own advocate for everything because mistakes happen, human error and all, but it's your body on the table!
