News on Dr. Villares and Banner Goodsams Bariatric Program

Good Afternoon, I was just wondering who else may have had their surgery cancelled with Dr. Villares and If anyone has heard anything new about Dr. Villares and the Banner Bariatric program at Goodsams parting ways. I know there was a dust up a few months ago and I was wondering if the same thing is happening again. Thanks, MShawn

I called and talked to them this morning and I have been chatting with someone who has a surgery date for June.  I was told there has been a problem with "patient care" and the surgeons will "ha**** out" on Monday.  Villares will decide then if he is going to continue with Banner.  My friend was told that he would only be doing VSG and band at his new facility.   I don't know what to think. But one thing I know for sure, it doesn't look good that you have a problem and then put everyone on hold.  Unless of course, he doesn't feel his patients are safe at Banner.  I wish there was more information as I will have to fight my insurance to get someone else approved.  Villares is the only one in my plan... How are you feeling MShawn?

I have so many thoughts going through my head.  I can't sleep.  TOTALLY not like me! I just wish we really knew what was going on.  Here are the options that I think. 1.  He had a personality conflict with the other guys=no bearing on his ability as surgeon 2.  He thinks Banner doesn't give good patient care=I'd still be safe to follow him where he goes 3.  He is the problem with patient care and the hospital said he couldn't do surgery there anymore=RUN RUN RUN 4.  It's financial=I'd be safe letting him cut my stomach out. I think I will call the board tomorrow and see if he has any complaints.

And there is my problem.  I have Villares and Simpson.  Doesn't give me much choice.  Villares doesn't have any complaints or anything if that tells us anything.

Villares is an EXCELLENT surgeon, and you will be in good hands with him. Obviously he has concerns about Banner, and while it may be inconvenient, I would let him iron out what he feels he needs to, and it will all be worth it in the end. There really is no need to start searching for a new surgeon and beginning all over, Villares is one of the BEST!! VeeKay
