At the initial seminar I went to last year I remember Dr. Blackstone talked about how there were constant advances in techniques.  She then told us about a supermodel in Europe I believe who had her gallbladder removed through her mouth because she didn't want any stomach scars.  Blackstone said that many bariatric surgeons were very excited about the possible application this would have to doing bariatric surgery.   She didn't mention anything about anybody in town doing it yet but that was a year ago and don't know if that's the exact same thing you are referring to but I did find it interesting.
