Hi Gail,

Check out the local group at http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/TUSWLS/.  Dr. Chaisson and Dr. Burpee are the two Lap RNY surgeons here in Tucson.

Northwest Hospital and St Joseph Hospital both have support groups. St. Joseph Hospital has two meetings per month. Tuesday Evening, and Saturday. Also there is a group that can be found on Yahoo that meets on a regular base's. Checkout this link, http://www.foothillssurgery.com/ under Patient Resources.  Keith

Gail, I emailed you offline.  Check your messages.  A lot will depend on what side of town you will be moving to.

If you mean a PCP or GP, mine was Philip Galasso and he was with me every step of the way. I was his first patient seeking the surgery in his 120 years in practice. No, he's not that old, just kidding! It kind of forced me to better educate myself because he knew nothing about it and was really inquisitive at every step. My PCP before him was a real schmuck, so it was nice to have support.
