Preop labs

I just got my packet from Scottsdale Bariatric with all of my appointments confirmed and the list of preop labs that I need to complete.  Here is my dilemna...I live about 3 hours from Scottsdale Shea but I do take frequent trips to Phoenix to visit family.  Most of the labs need to be done within the specific window 4/19-4/25.  Results must be sent to the office prior to my preop appointment on 5/9.  I can do the labs either through Scottsdale Shea or through my PCP.  I also still have to get the ultrasound and some other lab that can be done at any time.  For those of you who have used Blackstone, did you have your regular doctor do the labs or did you just get them done all at once at the hospital?  Its not a problem for me to take a day off work to do that, I'm just trying to figure out what would be the easiest and most likely to have my results in on time so that my surgery doesn't get postponed.  Help!! Rebecca, I did the labs and the ultrasound here in Tucson and had the reports sent/faxed to them.  I would do that if it works best for you. Deanne

I did all my labs and tests at the hospital, just I didnt have to deal with the worry of the results not getting to them in time and if they do not have the paper copy, they can easy pull up it up in the system.  Plus, the nurse at my PCP does a horrible blood draw. I did the bloodwork, chest xray, ekg right after each other... they get you in and out pretty quick. ~Nicole

At first I was going to do everything at my pcp which is about 10 minutes from my house as oppose to 40 minutes to Scottsdale but then I thought if there were a problem getting my labs faxed over to her everything would be rescheduled so I decided to just go to Scottsdale. I was thinking they would have the results in their system if something didn't get there by fax you know? I have been approved since Oct and I am trying to make sure I dot all my i's and cross all my t's. The window they gave me was Feb 25-29 and my pre-op appt is the following Monday with Dr B so I didn't want to run the risk of something going wrong or results not there in time. I would say just make the trip, but then again everything can go great as it did for one of the other posters. Good Luck!

Hey Rebecca! Did you decided how you were going to do your labs? If you go to Scottsdale go to the main entrance. I know on the map it shows a different location but when I asked about it the admitting lady told me to just go to the main entrance and tell them why I am there and they will escort me to each location. I thought it was all done in one area but I guess not. I am glad I asked. Just an FYI but you have plenty of time. :-D

Thanks for the heads up! I have decided to go ahead and take a day off work during that window and do my labs up there at Scottsdale, I think it will just be easier overall. Rebecca
