Any VSGers in AZ?

Just curious if there are any VSGers here in AZ? I just moved to the Scottsdale area and want to meet up with some great WLS people :) Are there any support groups in my area? Anybody close to me? I'm slowly figuring out where everything is, so I'd love to find some people to hang out with and show me around :) Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi \ I live in the mesa area about 35 minutes from scottsdale, I am having my consultation w/ dr nirnul on the 13th. He is located in scottsdale also.  I am hoping to have my lap band surgery at the end of the month. Tammy

We've got two that come to the Chandler group. One post-op, and one pre-op...We meet at Chandler Regional Hospital just off the 101 freeweay at the SEC of Frye and Dobson Roads...There is also a Yahoo Group (chandler WLS)....2nd Tuesday, and 4th Wednesday of each month from 6-7:30 pm, usually followed by an informal trip out to eat with whoever wants to come...Our next meeting is February 13th....Come join us!

I live in the Scottsdale, and know that Scottsdale Memorial Hospital, Shea campus has support groups. You might also look up Lisa Galper, psychologist, who runs support groups. I am having my band done by Robin Blackstone MD, on the 28th of this month, and she offers support groups at the Shea campus. Hope these names help you out. I live in Phoenix near downtown in the historic district. I also went to Dr. A. for my VSG. Good Sam has a support group tht meets every Tuesday and it is a great group. ( 12th St. & McDowell) They told me I was welcome even though I did not have my surgery there. I am way older than you, 60, love my sleeve, -35 lbs , 12/11/07 surgery. Welcome to Arizona. Start walking before it's 120 degrees!  There are only a few sleeves in our group and some younger people for sure.

Julie,   There are lots of us in Tucson because we have Drs. Burpee and Chaisson who perform the VSG surgery and have done so for a couple of years now.  It's probably a bit of a stretch for you to travel, but the Tucson WLS Support Group has a web site/message forum and you would be more than welcome to participate.  You have to register on Yahoo, but it is free and you can ask questions, share information, and get support on the message board.  Here is the link: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/TUSWLS/ Char10

I was just wondering the same thing!  I had a revision to VSG from lap-band on Jan. 17th here in Texas but am relocating to Phx at the beginning of April.  It would be great to find a group or other people in who have done the VSG!
