OT: Visiting PHX

I am from Minneapolis and I am going to be visiting/housesitting/dogsitting in Phoenix over the first week of Jan.  Does anyone have any great ideas for things for my husband and I to do while we are there?  Also, any ideas where to go for New Year's Eve?  Somewhere casual 20's crowd that plays hip/hop.  Thanks!  Tanya

Several of the casinos here in town have big New Years Eve parties with prizes, inexpensive, but nice buffets, bands, live entertainment.  The reason I mention them is most places area already booked with reservations and you don't need reservations at the casinos.  There was a television special on them just yesterday.

You might want to check out the Tempe Block party - can be lots of fun if you dont mind big crowds -  down by the college in Tempe  .. pretty much a young crowd... lots of bands, music , bars, drinking , stange and unusual people !! when you  get into town , Grab a " NEWTIMES " and check out the listings . should give you lots of Idea's .  Also the Local Tribune has a get out section , Check out Mesa Tribune online ... happy searching!

There is a local free paper called New Times.  It is geared toward things for 20 somethings to do each week.  You can pick it up free at stands outside of many restaurants.
