My Aunt is in desparate need of surgery, she is almost 500 lbs and can hardly walk. She has edema in her legs. She doesn't have any insurance, nor does she have a house or any savings she can borrow from. Does anyone have any ideas? Please help.

Is she on Medicare? My other thought was these finance companies offer programs to finance surgery. If she doesn't have any credit the interest rate won't be pretty. They do these loans kind of like car loans, does she have any income to be able to repay a loan? It's either insurance, including Medicare, or self pay as far as I know.

Do they have Medicaid where she lives? That may be another option. If her income is low she may qualify for it if they have it where she lives. Another option if she is over 50 she can join AARP and purchase insurance through them. Good luck Moira

If she is on Medicaid, and she finds a PCP that is for the WLS, she can get it done. My friend did.
