Anyone know anything about humas?
I had such a great lunch, with seasoned chicken strips on a bed of humas, small greek salad and a little bit of pita bread. I tried asking the waitress about it's nutrional value and she didn't know except she thought it was a protein.
All you healthy people out there have probably been eating this for longer than I have, can you tell me about it?
I love hummus. It's basically ground up chickpeas with garlic and a few other things thrown in.

Hey Carole,
I love hummus and can't wait to eat it again!
When I was feeling too lazy to make it myself, I would usually by the Athenos brand in the supermarket. They have nutritional data on their website for each flavor. The roasted garlic is my favorite!

Here's a pretty basic recipe that I've used before. As you'll see on the Athenos website, you can add some kick with a number of different flavors:

And if I didn't give you enough links already, this place has awesome hummus. Their food is great too if you dig the cuisine. I used to get hummus to-go allll the time!

Hummus rocks!
MMMMMMMM.......hummus is wonderful. I used to get it from the Arab communities in Dearborn MI where it is fresh and the pita bread is to die for. It is make of chick peas but be careful...it is all protein and good carbs and the fat is olive oil to give it body but unles homemade if most likely contains lots of sodium. The mid-easterners use garlic and lemon to season not-salt. Have you tried their pickeled turnips? This tops off a plate of hummas perfectly.
my favorite snack now is Pretzels dipped in Hummus.I dont need to eat very much, just a couple to satisfy the salt craving It used to be chips and dip. At least Hummus has protein. If I am hungry and know I will be eating in an hour or so I will take a tablespoon of hummus and it seems to tide me over. Moira
Oh, I love Hummas! It's high in protein is made from ground chickpeas and Tatini sauce which is ground sesme seeds! It also probably has olive oil in it if it was made "right". 2 Tablespoons of Hummas contains 2 gm of Protein.
I eat it with Pita baked chips or in a falafa""Spelling???" sandwich inwhich they stuff lamb, cucumbers, tomatoes, fried chick peas balls hummas and tatina sauce.........yummy good and I used to be able to eat 2 - 3 of them but can only feast on half of one now!
