I can't take artificial sugar, this has stevia and natural sugars so it's a bit higher in calories than a SF drink. This has a zillion things in it for the caloric value you get. Do any of you POST-OP's think this is a "doable" drink? Is it too high in anything for a newby at about 3 weeks post-op to start using? I can mix 1 scoop of unflavored whey protein, 1 ounce of liquid protein and 1 scoop of this in 4 ounces of liquid = it makes up 68gms of protien and I can break it into 3-2oz servings. It's equal to 1 pound of veges & 1 pound of fruit... What about the calories divided by 3 for 3 meals worth? I won't be taking this for two - three weeks from now, until I'm pre-op. Why are you mixing 1 oz. of liquid protein and 1 scoop of whey in the same drink? It seems like a double dose. I guess as long as the sugar content is low you should be fine. You will find out soon enough if you new pouch will tolerate it. With Dr.Juarez you will be on protein drinks immediately after surgery. On another note: Remembe the question you asked me about last night. I could not find any info on it. But I do remember I drink that horrible stuff. Maybe someone on the board can give you more info. Hi Pam, I did find the right one, finally. There are two types incase either one of us ever give a HOOT to know again! LOL When I put the liquid protein in the drink it adds 16 ( I forgot how many for sure) more grams of protein, I can do that seperately but I added it here. The Whey has 21 grams and I can mix everything together and seperate it into three servings of 2 ounces. Then I have my daily vitamin that adds more vitamins & protein. I want as much in as small of a dose as possible. So, 68 gms divided by 3 servings = 23.33gms per 2 oz plus I get 1 pound in goods worth of veges and fruits, I thought it was cool. There is a lot of fiber in this mix also. I was wondering about the fiber at 3 weeks post.

The calorie ratio is higher than recommended by most programs. Also, our bodies can only absorb 30 grams of protein per nutritional intake. That being said.....if it works for you right now then go for it. You may want to switch to a lower calorie supplement as you get further out (6 months or so) and calories start adding up in your diet easily again. Good for you for taking protein supplements! Joyce
