Dr Blackstone no longer a UHC Provider?!??!?!
Hi Alli,
Just wanted to let you know that i do think Blackstone is worth the hassle. I had tons of drama getting approved by my insurance company and considered bailing and finding a surgeon here in PA. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago and I could not be more pleased. The after care at SBC seems stellar. I wish I could participate in more of it. Also, I was under the impression that the price of surgery covered all of the after care except the $1000 support care package we're required to purchase. May I am incorrect or there is something new going on. At any rate, best of luck to you.

Alli: I think Felicia is right. It might be covered under one big packet since the initial surgery was started before they decided not to renew with UHC. Your after surgery support I assume should be considered part of the initial operation. But if not then I would ask Dr. Blackstone's office if they could submit the whole enchileda in one bill. Since they are not taking UHC they must have had some kind of plan for patients that are in the process of the surgery. I don't know Dr.Blackstone, my surgery was with Dr. Juearez, but I would assume and hope Dr. Blackstone office could tell you how this is going to work. This pre op time is stressful enough. I really hope you can get the answers that you need so you are not stressed going into the operation. Good luck to you and stay calm.
Hi Alli,
I didn't receive the letter, but I'm sure it applies to everyone. One of the things I noticed with our billing from Dr. B, is the follow up care is not all under the cost of surgery. UHC was billed and paid seperately for my husband's first fill. I think it's odd that she wouldn't want to accept UHC since they are so easy to get people approved through.
Since my surgery is this month,I'm not too worried about it. I hope to be out of state by summer and would have to change doctor's anyway. We want to move to Austin where my son and his family live.
I would be very upset if I was in March. I don't think I would change surgeon's though, followup care can at least be started with her. They will probably refer you to someone else. Hang in there and talk to them as Nicole suggested, you've come this far, however, another surgeon may be able to do the surgery sooner if you would want that. Just an idea, I think you need to look at it from all different points.

A big thanks to everyone for the encouraging words. I have left messages and sent an email to SBC, but no response on my request for information yet. I went with Dr. B, because she is one of the best in her field. It would be very disappointing to have to start this process all over with another surgeon......Wish me luck
Alli
hi Alli! you look much skinnier than your profile pic
Have you thought about switching to Dr Juarez or Dr Fang? I got approved in a week, and you could probably have your surgery about the same time.
Just a thought. I never get to see you since u switched to nights, but i am 6 weeks out and 30 lbs down Bikini HERE I COME!
Hey you, get to work!!! hehehe, I'm so glad I'm back on nights, and I've decided not to stress about my surgeon. I am already approved and will stick with Dr. Blackstone, she will do my surgery and provide 90 days of after care. Between now and March, hopefully they will find another surgeon to refer me to. Way to go on the 30lbs, you might have lost it, but I think I found it!!! Talk to you soon.
