My call from Colene at Dr Fangs office today....
Hello everyone! I got a call from Colene today. She said to call her in 4 wks for psych eval. And between now and then continue seeing my pcp for additional weight loss consultations.. Is this normal? Ok I guess what Im trying to say is that about a year ago I went thru this same thing but changed my mind at the last minute because I was losing weight on my own like 35lbs at that time I think. So now Im back at it again and am a little worried for this fact that my insurance paid once for the physc eval do you think they will pay again? Im just thinking that it might be a problem.
Colene, I think it would depend on your insurance co. If they cover WLS they need to cover whatever the doctor order's for tests to evaluate you. Have you had a problem with them not paying for tests ordered by your doctor? I guess when in doubt call your insurance co....
This isn't really something anyone on this board can answer for you. Sorry

Your Psych eval is only good for one year anyway, if your prior one is over a year old than you need one again per requirements.
I'm a little confused, did you already get another psych eval done? If so, call the Psych and ask them when it will be done and sent to Dr. Fang. If not, I would like to recommend Dr. Maxwell in St. Lukes hospital, she was extremely reasonable, I paid cash, got the receipt and submitted it to my insurance. Dr. Maxwell was less than half the cost of most the other places I called. Plus, I liked her a lot.
I also saw the Nutritionist at St. Lukes which was very reasonable and was covered by my insurance right than, I didn't have to pay. I liked her a lot also.
Colleen said to keep seeing your pcp (probably) so you can have a continual 6 months of treatment without losing time waiting, I think they told me the same thing. I can't remember right of the top of my head.
Colleen is probably preparing your insurance requirements and comparing it to what you have turned into them already so she can let you know, I know 4 weeks sounds long. I did the exact same thing 2 years ago. Just keep making appointments and doing what you know you need so you aren't constantly waiting, that's the worst.
One thing I would like to add - If you have a hospital preference, MAKE SURE DR.FANG'S OFFICE KNOWS NOW, before anything is approved.
