Hi everyone! I'm relocating from Missouri to Yuma early next month. Do you have any Plastic Surgeon recommendations that accepts TriCare? Is there any info about the town that you can share with me? Any recommendations on areas to live and areas to avoid? I have a 7th grader and and 11th grader. Any recommendations on schools? I know I'm so full of questions. I'm just really excited about moving and want to know everything I can and what to expect. Thank you! Nancy 217/117/at goal

Hi Nancy, I live in Yuma and saw your email. I do not really know about the plastic surgeons and Tri-Care, but I am sure you will find people who know when you get here. There are a lot of Military here, and Tri-care is big. But, the medical care in Yuma isn't always the greatest and a lot of people go to Phoenix or San Diego (both about a 3 hour drive) for doctors and specialists. The town is big, really spread out for a "town" I would say it is a city, and in the next few months it will double in size with all the "snow birds" which is what we call all the people that come down here to live for the winter. Driving is crazy and a challenge. But Yuma is a good place to live and raise kids. My brother teaches at Yuma High School, but I would recommend Kofa or Cibola High School from what I have heard about other people. My niece and nephew went to Yuma, though and they are both doing well in life. I think they are all pretty much the same. The Jr. Highs are the same too. I hear good things about them all. As for recreation, there is lots to do here. Even though we live in the desert, the Colorado River is right here so river sports are big. There are always things going on. Carefully check out places to live. There are some areas I would probably not want to live in, mostly the northern area by 1st street. There are two major areas, "in town" and "the foothills". A lot of choosing where to live will depend on where you work or want your kids to go for things. Most youth activities are in town and all the high schools are in town. I would be glad to answer any other questions you have if you want to email me at [email protected]. Kya Saladin P.S. I would as a civil servant for US Army Yuma Proving Ground.
