Topic: RE: Bandster wants sleeve....QLD Surgeons?

Hi Belinda

My name is Cathy.  I had a sleeve in Oct ’07 revised to a RNY in May ’08.

My surgeon is Phil Lockie in Brisbane. He also consults in Ipswich if that’s near you.

PM me if you’d like his details.

He’s a great surgeon!

Belinda,

Dr Daoud was my surgeon too, he is great.  I am not sure what the out of pokets for you would be, but Marlene from his office will tell you.

Hi Belinda,
I don't know how much he charges but Dr Daoud http://www.queenslandobesitycentre.com.au/ is a good surgeon - he firstly repaired my band, then removed it when it was still slipping and he's just done an RNY for me.  His rooms are at Greenslopes but he operates at Sunnybank now.

Topic: My child could use your help

So I know this is not weight related, but hey, we also post about our lives, right? If you want to help us out, it would be great.

My son has entered a contest at a local radio station here in Arkansas. The child with the most votes at the end of the contest wins a trip for his family to Disney World. I didn't expect this to turn out to be a popularity contest, but it has. Voting ends September 26th. You can only vote once per IP address and we only have one PC and few friends and family members. Everyone here at Obesity Help has been great in helping us out, and in one day, he has taken the lead. Please help us hold on to this lead. We still have several days before voting ends.

Anyways, if you want to help us out, please go to www.kssn.com and click on Kiddieokee. Then click on the 2-4 age group. My son is  #2 on the list, he is wearing a white t-shirt and he sings "Folsom Prison Blues". His name is Wyatt. Wyatt really wants to go see Mickey Mouse and with your help, he can! Thanks everyone and please pass the word along to your friends and family members also!

Topic: Bandster wants sleeve....QLD Surgeons?

Hi all,
My names Belinda, i have been banded 7 years and due to several complications i have decided to get the sleeve. I am currently looking for a surgeon and because i dont have health insurance i will be paying the full cost of the surgery.
I am looking for any surgeons in qld who do the surgery and if you know how much they charge that would be a huge help!
I have found a great surgeon who charges $12,000 which i thought was perty good, what do you think? I have dealt with him for my band and he is very good.

Any help appreciated
Thanks

Belinda

Topic: RE: Has anyone had the band removed and then gone one to have the gastric sleeve done?
Hi Tynam

I had a hell journey with my band which is detailed on my profile.   My band was the pits from the start - slow weight loss, leaky port within three months, more slow weight  loss and over the next 2 years I gained and lost the same 3 - 5 kigs.   Had complications when it was discovered I had a severe band erosion and out it came.   It was then confirmed that the band was unlocked the whole time I had it.   I revised to a sleeve exactly 4 weeks ago and it has been a fantastic journey so far.   I was so lucky not to suffer the post op discomfort that many others go through, and so far I have lost nearly 12kgs (nearly 16 if I include my highest weight before banding.)   I feel great, have no worries with taking extra supplements, I can eat most things including fruit and veg, and I don't have any regrets, I just wish this surgery had been available here at the time I had my band surgery.

Good luck with your research.    Marion

PS

My profile outlines my story in detail.

I have not had band, but I tried to last week and the surgeon had problems due to an artery of mine in the way. Good luck, make the decision and go with it , I did that and Im not looking back.

Im having my surgery on Wednesday and feel a bit excited and nervous. I went for a lap band last week and the surgeon could not put the band in due to a anatomical problem with an artery. So here goes number two surgery.
