HI REbecca -- yes gas was awful for me too i was on pain killer for about 5 days after op which hleped.. i had had surgery before and gas got me then too, so this time I had a few strategies to deal with it all firstly,, every time i sat i rolled my ankles, wrists and any other part of me that was movable,, this helps move the gas around, secondly i walked whenever i could, didn't push myself but a 30 min walk was ok for me from about day 3.. not a swift walk, just a gently stroll thirdly, i used ho****er bottles on my shoulders where the gas sat, lastly when it was unbearable I took painkillers eventually it goes, ,but while its there, its literally a pain selina

Thanks so much for replying Julie. I went out and got some peppermint tea today, thank you so much for the suggestions. Walking has helped so much. Thanks again Julie. Rebecca

Hi Rebecca If you are only getting 400ml of fluid per day I wouldnt wait until the 9th June to see the surgeon. Try spacing smaller sips of fluid during the day in an attempt to get more in. Even if you are sucking on ice, or eating icy poles...the fluid all helps. As for gas...well that hit me after my op too. I can suggest going for walks...as often and as much as you can cope with. It really does help to move it all around and for it to exit !! Also, sipping on peppermint tea helps. Pain killers and hot packs help too. I am in Melbourne....great to meet you !! Julie
