Hi,my name is Rossie, and I under went the same op as yourself.Even though its been 10yrs now, I have had a long road of problems, with the healing process. My last stay in hospital, was 3yrs ago, and at a rediculous weight of 38kg, and on my death bed. I had terrible fluid pouring out of my legs, and could bearly walk withont the aid of a walking stick...that became my best friend. 3months in hospital, I was sent home to continue my battle to get better and better. Soon after, I gained 20kg! These days, I still have to watch what I eat, with a hi protein low fat diet for life.I have stablized now, and my weight is really good now, sitting at 60kg, and I am very happy at that. My eating habits are really good now, and I feel like I have been re-born again. What supplement food do you use? What multivitamins do u use? How is your appeitite now? I graze, where I can,and have to take enzyme replacements, everytime I eat or drink something, as this helps with the breakdown of gastric juices. I have done alot of research, for the last 10 yrs.You claim, u have a fatigue problem! I find that with the specialized multivitamins and minerals that are consumed daily. They really seem to give me the energy, I need daily. If u have any other questions that I maybe able to assist you with, plse feel free to drop me a line, anytime. Goodluck, with your journey! Cheers Rossie!

Hi Linda, Im Rossie, and I am 10yrs post op. Its been a very long road for me,I had also a Bilio Pancreatic Diversion. At my heaviest weight, I was 163kg. I have had 3 hospital stays, due to complications. I went down to an unhealthy weight of 38kg and had fluid in my legs. After my 3months stay in hospital,I was home again back on the mend. Now I am a healthy 60kg and can do almost anything now! i love life to the fullest. I am new to this noticeboard, and would love to hear from you! How is your skin now? have you undergone a body lift? or is your skin, not looking that bad? I have never had any reconstruction surgery.I am very happy, about the size of my body now, and this has been a god sent, to be able to read about someone ,who has had, the same op. I am 5"3 tall, and now a size 10-12.I am 42yrs old, and feel, a very young and full of life now. I had my op at a private hospital, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, but I live in Canberra. I have a 19yr old daughter and I travel back and forth, every 3weeks, to Sydney from Canberra...yes! that very cold place it is! I have a new partner, that resides in the central coast and family in Sydney as well. I hope this has been some interesting reading! Plse, do send a reply, as I would love to hear from u...regards Rossie!

Hi Amanda, my name is Ros, and I underwent a Bilio Pancreatic Diversion 2 lose weight. My weight ballooned to 163 kg. I had my op in 1998, I must admit, that I had a very rough ride.I dont want to scare you but,at one stage I nearly lost my life, 3yrs ago. I got a really bad infection in the stomach, and had fluid pouring out of my legs. I finally got the courage to go back to hospital,as it took me 8months to get to this state. My weight had been at its lowest, it had ever been....38kg! I was so scared of dying. At this stage, I couldnt walk, unaided, without my walking stick. I honestly didnt realise, how sick I really was, till I went code blue, in the hospital, and I was sleeping for 18hrs a day for the first few weeks, and my legs up to thighs were heavierly incased in fluid, that was pouring out. But, dont let this little story bother you, as I am one of the very few that had major problems, with the post -op side of things. So my stay in hospital...was an extended 3months! I had to learn to walk again as all my muscles, were so weak...it was a very slow process....but I managed to gain 20kg, while I was getting better. My Albumun or protein level was only .8, and should of been about 45, when I got sick. Now, 3yrs to the day, I have kept out of hospital. My weight now...is a beautiful 60kg! I am so happy to say, that it has been a long road...10yrs in total, and now my weight is stable. Amanda, this will be the best life change, u could ever ask for. I know, the road hasnt starting yet,but you will be so very happy with the results in long term. Ifeel, like a completely new woman now, even with all my post -op problems, I can happily say....that I am so glad that I had it done. Its funny now, I can walk down the street, and no-one will call out and make fun of my weight now! but generally, I get a wolf whistle, which makes me feel good inside.Even though I have lost over 100kg, there are still guidelines that I must follow, to keep this weight off for good. These days,I am so very pleased with the outcome, and so will you! Be strong, Amanda, and you will be fine. This life, is definitely, a more quality life. I can do almost anything now,and even ride a bike these days. It took me 18months, to lose all my weight, but I was a biggy, and I was at wits ends, and I knew not only was my health suffering, but my mental state was through the roof...so something had to be done. I feel now, like I am having a second chance of life again...and I wouldnt swap this for the world. Unfortunately, my earlier follow-ups were a disappointment, to me as I have always felt like...I had been thrown to the wolfs, as there was not much post-op support from my surgeon...I was a little hurt mentally, as I was told that I will have no foreign bodies in me! but after an x-ray,I could see the staples inside me...I was mad! Dont let my story, put you off,as go for it girl! you will be very surprised with the ending results. I wish you all the very best for your op! Thinking positive, is a bonus! At least now, I actually feel healthy...after all my complications. I hope to hear a reply from you soon...goodluck! take good care of yourself. regards Ros!

We have been home 2 weeks today and am just starting to sleep at night again and feel somewhat caught up. We had a great time there and it was great to get away from the below zero temps here. Spring is still slow coming to us but at least it's warmer than it was! I never got to see the 7th wonder, but we did see and do alot! Thanks for all your help and tips while we were there, I hope to return next year.

does it make a different with age with regards to the skin. in 86 I was alot younger and had no problem with the skin, get tightened up itself. but this time round with having had children also the skin is excessive and isnt going back in, I wouldnt be able to afford another operation for that so I guess I stay with excessive skin

theres a saying that I have The weight didnt get there over night and its not going to over night and the slower you lose it the better off you will be from other complications such as gall stones dont beat yourself up about just look at where you can make adjustments in your diet and exercise also consult with your Dr, Surgeon or dietitian for suggestions and cut back on filling the sweet tooth i suggest that you try to allow the sweet tooth to have a treat but link it with your weight loss by setting small weight loss goals that are attainable in the short term gradularly towards your main goal BUT remember that sugars is one way to eat arround the surgery On a lighter note for the flatulance well we both know about that and we both probably have embarrassing stories to tell  from my experience and understanding your type of surgery isnt that popular here in OZ so i would like to keep in touch with you while your on your weightloss journey if thats ok with you :-)

the weight is slowly coming off and it is worrying me that I have done this and I expect too much, my cholersterol is good, blood pressure is good but still the weight comes off slow, very slow I seem to loose a couple then are at a stand still for weeks. I hope I havent undone all the good, can that happen?? I still have a sweet tooth which I suppose wont change. my meals are still the smallest in the household which is great but last night I did something really stupid trying to stretch a chook further than it would go I had the wings, I know big mistake I was up most of the night throwing up or with pains from wind. I know this sounds like I am whinging and I dont mean to I am happy with the results just not the stand still I have now, and I really have no one to complain to, my husband is stick thin and doesnt have the problem and never has had it, he cant understand why it bothers me either.
