Hi Sarah I'm Linda and I am five and a half years post surgery. I haven't been on the OH website for a long time so I'm afraid I don't know what a 'DS' is. I had a bilio-pancreatic diversion (quite a mouth-full) in 2002. However, if I can be of any help, I'm happy to keep in touch. I was 137kg and maintain (with little effort) 77-79kgs which is good for my 174cm height. I wish you best of luck, an easy recovery and future success. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Sorry I haven't figured out how to post a photo yet. Linda

Hi Linda, Im Rossie, and I am 10yrs post op. Its been a very long road for me,I had also a Bilio Pancreatic Diversion. At my heaviest weight, I was 163kg. I have had 3 hospital stays, due to complications. I went down to an unhealthy weight of 38kg and had fluid in my legs. After my 3months stay in hospital,I was home again back on the mend. Now I am a healthy 60kg and can do almost anything now! i love life to the fullest. I am new to this noticeboard, and would love to hear from you! How is your skin now? have you undergone a body lift? or is your skin, not looking that bad? I have never had any reconstruction surgery.I am very happy, about the size of my body now, and this has been a god sent, to be able to read about someone ,who has had, the same op. I am 5"3 tall, and now a size 10-12.I am 42yrs old, and feel, a very young and full of life now. I had my op at a private hospital, in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, but I live in Canberra. I have a 19yr old daughter and I travel back and forth, every 3weeks, to Sydney from Canberra...yes! that very cold place it is! I have a new partner, that resides in the central coast and family in Sydney as well. I hope this has been some interesting reading! Plse, do send a reply, as I would love to hear from u...regards Rossie!

Hi Sarah I have only recently joined obesity help today and hence I am not familiar with alot of the terms. Can you please tell me what a DS is? I am booked in to have a Sleeve Gastrectomy with my surgeon Dr John Jorgenson in Sydney on the 14th February. The reason I choose the sleeve v's the band was the restriction with food. He said most people that have the band cant eat red meat and chicken breast and I LOVE red meat and chicken breast. I eat a fairly healthy diet but just eat WAY TOO MUCH. Thats the reason why I choose the sleeve to reduce my intake. I'm currently 106kg (was 108kg) but started taking optifast last friday and have lost 2kg. My surgery is in 2 weeks from tomorrow so I'm a little tentative but just want to get it over and done with. I have 2 small children (3yrs & 1yr) and am wondering what my recovering is going to be like. They say no lifting but for how long? Good luck with your surgery in March and look forward to hearing from you to explain what the DS is. Cheers Kim

Hi Kim. I've only just found this Australian forum. I usually hang out on the VSG forum. I had my sleeve on 28/11/07 and love it. Even though I did eat a lot of crap portion control was certainly a very big problem for me. My weight loss is motoring along- I do, however, have a fair bit to lose so expected to do fairly well first off. The sleeve has certainly helped with portion control. My friend who is much the same weight as you with 2 children under 2 is now thinking about having the sleeve. Hope your surgery goes well. I was certainly picking up my friends 19 month old within about a week and just starting doing the laundry again as soon as I got home. The only thing I took a bit slower was carrying the groceries in after shopping. If I was on my own would only carry about 3 bags in at a time as opposed to about 6. Leisa

hi guys... sorry to be a pain what is DS? I had vertical gastroplasty 22 years ago and then had to have it all removed November 2006 so I went for a BPD as I didnt want to be back able to gain so much weight I had gained lots after my kids were born and I had a hernia they fixed up at the same time as the BPD. so when I had VG I was 123kg got down to 65kg maintained that for awhile. Then when I had BPD I was up to 113kg and am now down to 87 and hopefully will have a good loss now I am ot carrying so much around. How do you get the direct messages from the Aussie board only, I skim through all the others as there is so many and I end up missing the Aussie ones. Do the Aussies just need to add me as a friend???
