Any one had a "vertical sleeve"?

Hello I had a band installed in 1998. It has now slipped and I need further surgery. The surgeon in Perth has suggested that an option for me might be to have a vertical sleeve ie restrictive vertical gastrectomy. Has anyone else had one of these procedures? I would be keen to hear how things have gone. Thanks

Hi Geoff, I have not had a sleeve gastrectomy but am considering having it done. My next consult with my surgeon is tomorrow. (I am in Adelaide) The Sleeve Gastrectomy forum on here is tremendously helpful, lots of people have huge amounts of detail in their profiles. Hi Geoff, I am from Sydney and had a sleeve in March this year. I have lost 29kg and am 2 kg from my goal weight. I have not had any problems. There is a guy in Qld. who has had a VSG after band that slipped. His name is Ron, he posts on the VSG board and also on our board in Sydney. Hi Geoff, just wondering how you went with getting info about the sleeve. I know that you posted this in october but I haven't been on this site for many months. Like Alison I had a vertical sleeve at Mercy Bariatircs. I had a blood loss during surgery [5 weeks ago] and progress has been very slow. While I have lost 14kg, I have a lot of gastic reflux and am essentially still on a liquid diet. I am told things will improve significantly.
