I am guilty. I do not add the god before it. I do it out politeness only. I do it for the same reason I celebrate the holidays. I have to in order to fit in. I am not at all a hypocrite though. I celebrate xmas for the presents only. I am ALL about the gifts. If I had children, I would not be telling them about all of those fantasy characters like santa and the easter bunny. That would be for the other brainwashed children of the world. They say Bless you, because it was once beleived that your heart skips a eat when you sneeze and the blessing was that of your soul. I say it, but it has NO meaning whatsoever for me. I should stop though. I am very dilligent about the language I use where most people refer to god.

Having Jesus make my cat talk would be no great feat. There are drugs that can do that The only thing that would work for me is if God made clear his/her/its existance and will to the entire world simultaneously. Anything less is back to "God told me to tell you..." which is simply a way to control the masses. Tek

YOU ROCK HARD GIRLFRIEND YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!! I'm very happy for you! I can understand how your partner's success would be very inspirational for you! I'm glad somebody sees the fatal flaw in 12-step programs that I've always seen. If you buy into it, it's like trying to play a trick on yourself... all that stuff about "admit you are powerless" and "turn my life over" to some entity. It's about relieving yourself of responsibility, believing you don't possess the power to accomplish anything for yourself, AND if you succeed, YOU GIVE THE CREDIT TO SOMEBODY ELSE!!! There are rational reasons for why everything works or doesn't. Weight loss can be so difficult; your body can play so many tricks on you like this crazy **** about how you can eat TOO LITTLE and stop losing weight. It takes persistence, discipline, consistency, discipline, determination, discipline, and lots of sweat. And discipline. GIVE ALL THE GLORY TO JESSICA!!!

Hey ya'll! I've been exercising and doing this Adkins thing for the past three months. I've been sitting at this damn plateau for what felt like forever and finally---3 pounds gone since early last week!!! It's about time! Hot diggidy!! I've been working my butt off--literally---exercising 5 days a week and abstaining from most of the foods I crave with a vengance! The jerks in the insurance booth say, "no way babe," so I'm doing this Adkins diet, and hoping against all hope, that I can stick to this diet. It's gotten considerably easier in the three months I've been on it. It helps that my partner is on the diet, too. The only real reason I have been able to stick with this diet for as long as I have been, is that I saw her lose 100 pounds on this diet. I never believed it worked until I saw it. I've been told by many that, if I pray, and really believe that "God" will hellp me, that I would be able to stick to any diet. Let me tell you, I can't handle people that tell me to believe in some entity that I've never seen, that THEY'VE never seen---some dude in a book that how many thousands of years old??? I'd been to Overeater Anonymous and that was the basic premise: if you turn over you control to " a higher power " then weight loss would certainly follow. What a crock of sh**. Basically, you pretend that some power you've never seen, heard, smelled or tasted---will return your warped mind to one of sanity. Let me tell you, I'm never gonna be sane, no matter what "God" wraps "his" arms around me!!! Anyway, on my own, with the help, love and support of my partner, my friends, and really people on OH, I am losing this weight. It's hard work--period. No God. No invisible entity that's going to make my life worth living. Just pure, unadulterated hard friggin' work! Thanks for listening, Jessica 302/263/175

Topic: Signs from God
Reading a "sign from god" post today reminded me of something.... I used to have a neighbor who was a Baptist pastor (oh yeah, it was fun) and he once asked me what would it take for me to believe in god. I said Jesus would have to appear to me in my living room and perform whatever amazing feats I requested. Not in a dream, not in my bedroom in the dark in the middle of the night when I might be half asleep, not on TV, but in my own living room when I'm alert and awake. He could have a seat on the couch and make my cat talk or something. What would do it for you?

That is one of those uncomfortable things we all get stuck dealing with. It's the American Way to say, "bless you". I have never said, "God bless you"...I have been guilty of saying just plain "bless you." It's as if people get weird when there is silence after a sneeze. I say "thank you" when someone says "bless you." I guess I just think it's polite for me to respond somehow... What exactly does "bless you" mean??? It's kind of stupid now that I think about it...
