Hi Terri,
Good to hear from you. Like you, I only visit this site occasionally. The main board does little for me. The same stupid questions over and over drive me crazy. "I'm on a stall, Did I irritate my pouch, How do I post a picture, blah blah blah." My sister died earlier this month from breast cancer so I've been pretty raw. I'm sorry the god botherers were at you. Anyway, when is Easter? I honestly don't know. I suppose I could look at a calendar. LOL. When the kids were little, I'd do a basket. When I was little, we all got a new outfit. I'll be in Vegas from April 7 to 13 so if it falls then, I'll be playing poker for Easter.

Topic: RE: Hey does anybody visit this board?
There used to be many others. One was banned from OH entirely and the rest were probably driven away by others, who were not like us, who insisted on butting in on our conversations and spreading their messages. Trust me, we cannot get away that the way they did. It is unbelievable really.
I just check in here every now and then and now just frequent some Yahoo groups with more restrictions on who can be a member and are seriously more uncensored. This type of group will never fly on this site. We tried but were out numbered.
There are too many other cool sites on the web to have to resort to this one. You can't say anything anyways.
Sorry
Topic: Long time no hear from
Hi everyone still reading this board. Controversy and accusations from others memebers have rekindled my interest in this forum. Maybe we can get a reasonable discussion going here.
I was recently accused of harassing another member here on another forum after sending ONE email in disagreement with what they posted. I guess you cannot disagree these days without casuing an uproar. I bet the word harrassment was used 5 times when I sent one lousy email. Hmmmmm. It is discouraging.
Anywhoo, started a new job this week. I am recovering well from my TT and look fantastic in my tighty dress pants. Marriage is a little rocky right now, but hanging in there. Partying too much these days is killing me. I need to slow down a little. Still an Atheist and stronger than ever in my convictions. Easter is around the corner. I look forward to that $70.00 ham every year and mom's famous mac and cheese. I am lucky my family is not religious, so we just eat and give candy to the kids.
Anybody still out there? What have you been up to?
Terri

Barb,
Yes, my son is on a daily dose of penicillin(when I can force it down his throat, of course) Right now he is on Augmentin for an upper respiratory infection. Mind you, these pills were to be taken over 10 days.........its been 2 weeks and he still has pills left! One doctor wants him to take the penicillin. The other doctor says he will get used to it and it wont help him anymore. He seems to catch everything that comes along, though.
Barb, you know how you said your daughters gums would bleed? My son had that and tears of blood coming out of his eyes! I will never ever forget that day! That could be the reason he is such a big brat now
take care

I'm so glad to hear your son is doing better. Low platelets were the cause of my daughter's bleeding. She too had her spleen removed. Does your son take daily penicillin? My daughter refused to take it and if we managed to get it down her throat, she'd force herself to vomit. We gave up and thankfully haven't had any problems with infections. Later we learned there were two schools of thought on the preventative penicillin.
You know I think I WAS that bad when I was a teenager but I grew up in a small Texas town. There was plenty of room to sow my wild oats. Here (DC suburbs) we have gangs (MS-13 and a few others), traffic out of this world and just more people increasing the chance that she'll run into a few unsavory types.

Barb,
I dont know if I had heard that your daughter was little when she was sick. My son was sick when he was 2 1/2 also. Nothing as severe as leukemia. He has a condition called ITP. Its a disorder that kills off platelets. He almost bled to death before he was diagnosed. I'm happy to say that after being sick for 4 years, the doctor decided to remove his spleen and that helped the problem. I'm glad to hear that your daughter recovered.
I know all about teenagers. My 16 year old son is driving me to drink. Were we that bad when we were young?
Take care

Congrats Terry!
Obviously I haven't been checking the boards much. I didn't realize your tummy tuck was happening in Dec. -- how are you feeling these days?

Willby,
They have the treatment for breast cancer down to so many levels now. If you're hormone receptive or not your treatment changes. Hopefully, she's got the 'best' (as if there is such a thing in cancer) kind of breast cancer.
My daughter was desperately ill. She had a rare form of leukemia and we were basically told to plan her funeral. Yes, she looked ill. She was 2 1/2 and weighed 22 pounds. She was continually leaking blood from her nose and gums. A bone marrow transplant from her aunt (who didn't even totally match her tissue) saved her. Now she's 15 and causing me no end of trouble. She decided to get a little (read lot) drunk last weekend and ended up in the ER.

Hi Barb,
I'm not quite sure what the other med is...but one is adriamycin(sp?). She takes chemo every two weeks. In one month she will start on Taxotier(sp?). Her cancer is not the hormone related kind, so she doesnt have to be on Tamoxiphen afterwards.
Its so strange, though, because she doesnt even look sick. She just looks like Stacy without hair. Did you find the same thing with your daughter? Take care.

Thanks for the update. Is she getting chemo once a week? Do you know what kind? My daughter's hair started falling out about three weeks after her first chemo. It grows back. In fact, it is a good thing, shows the chemo is working.
