hello all, I just wanted to let you all know that Stacy is on her 3rd chemo treatment. She lost all of her hair this weekend and its been hard on her. Thank you to all who are asking about her. I wanted to let you know since I posted when she found out. Hopefully, in a while, I can post that the chemo was successful and she's going to be ok. take care willby

Thanks for the update. Is she getting chemo once a week? Do you know what kind? My daughter's hair started falling out about three weeks after her first chemo. It grows back. In fact, it is a good thing, shows the chemo is working. Barb

Hi Barb, I'm not quite sure what the other med is...but one is adriamycin(sp?). She takes chemo every two weeks. In one month she will start on Taxotier(sp?). Her cancer is not the hormone related kind, so she doesnt have to be on Tamoxiphen afterwards. Its so strange, though, because she doesnt even look sick. She just looks like Stacy without hair. Did you find the same thing with your daughter? Take care. willby

Willby, They have the treatment for breast cancer down to so many levels now. If you're hormone receptive or not your treatment changes. Hopefully, she's got the 'best' (as if there is such a thing in cancer) kind of breast cancer. My daughter was desperately ill. She had a rare form of leukemia and we were basically told to plan her funeral. Yes, she looked ill. She was 2 1/2 and weighed 22 pounds. She was continually leaking blood from her nose and gums. A bone marrow transplant from her aunt (who didn't even totally match her tissue) saved her. Now she's 15 and causing me no end of trouble. She decided to get a little (read lot) drunk last weekend and ended up in the ER. Barb

Barb, I dont know if I had heard that your daughter was little when she was sick. My son was sick when he was 2 1/2 also. Nothing as severe as leukemia. He has a condition called ITP. Its a disorder that kills off platelets. He almost bled to death before he was diagnosed. I'm happy to say that after being sick for 4 years, the doctor decided to remove his spleen and that helped the problem. I'm glad to hear that your daughter recovered. I know all about teenagers. My 16 year old son is driving me to drink. Were we that bad when we were young? Take care willby

I'm so glad to hear your son is doing better. Low platelets were the cause of my daughter's bleeding. She too had her spleen removed. Does your son take daily penicillin? My daughter refused to take it and if we managed to get it down her throat, she'd force herself to vomit. We gave up and thankfully haven't had any problems with infections. Later we learned there were two schools of thought on the preventative penicillin. You know I think I WAS that bad when I was a teenager but I grew up in a small Texas town. There was plenty of room to sow my wild oats. Here (DC suburbs) we have gangs (MS-13 and a few others), traffic out of this world and just more people increasing the chance that she'll run into a few unsavory types. Barb

Barb, Yes, my son is on a daily dose of penicillin(when I can force it down his throat, of course) Right now he is on Augmentin for an upper respiratory infection. Mind you, these pills were to be taken over 10 days.........its been 2 weeks and he still has pills left! One doctor wants him to take the penicillin. The other doctor says he will get used to it and it wont help him anymore. He seems to catch everything that comes along, though. Barb, you know how you said your daughters gums would bleed? My son had that and tears of blood coming out of his eyes! I will never ever forget that day! That could be the reason he is such a big brat now take care willby
