Glad to find this board
Navigation on this site is so poor I don't know if others will find this board but I'm glad to see it.
I am what you would call super hardcore ATHEIST but I NEVER tell people what they "should" or shouldn't believe. That would make me as bad as all those who think I'm misguided and need to be saved. I NEVER argue religious issues with anyone except if they try to tell me how I should live. But there's an awful lot of religion on this board and I just have to sound off a little about it. Something that has always frustrated and confounded me is the way some religious people will attribute everything that happens to god, good and bad, as if they have no control over it. I can't begin to count the posts I've read from people who've been denied by their insurance companies and they assume it's because "it's not in God's timing." I fought for TWO YEARS to get this surgery for myself and I didn't wait around for anyone's "timing." I figured out what I had to do and I DID IT. When I hit a roadblock, I figured out how to get OVER IT! I take full credit for what I've accomplished with securing this surgery for myself and losing weight!!!
Hi Dona,
I just wanted to let you know I'm glad you have found a board where you feel more comfortable. While I'm not aetheist (I'd call myself agnostic if I had to name it) I understand your feelings. I hope that you won't completely turn away from the main board, though. Although you don't believe in prayer, I think everyone on there means the best and are showing support for each of us in the best way they know how. I'm not one to pray, but I still appreciate the prayers and thoughts I get from everyone and am always willing to take a moment to think special thoughts for anyone who needs it.
Good luck to you!
Becky

Thanks for posting the link for this board on the main board. I would never have found it otherwise. I don't think I'm an athiest per se, but would rather keep religion out of the posts I do see and read. I moderate
a couple local support boards and religious posts are not allowed through and those who constantly put "blessings" or "god won't give you more than you can handle" or "I hope the lord guides your surgeons hands during surgery" are warned that religious comments should be kept to a minimum. For some it's just the way they talk, for some it's their lifestyle but I believe it isn't EVERYONE's lifestyle so don't post it on a national board. I'm glad this board exists - I hope to get many opinions and advice for myself here and hope to give some back. Thanks again for the link. Myrtle.
