Topic: RE: Celebrex- I miss it!
I've been taking Arthrotec for years and wonder if Celebrex might be a better alternative. Anyone tried Arthrotec and made the switch to Celebrex?
Topic: RE: What else can I take for my knee
I also have arthritis in both knees and am taking Tramadol and Arthrotec for pain and swelling. I find that the Tramadol does help with pain somewhat but doesn't relieve the pain completely. Did you have a choice which WLS type you received or did your surgeon decide for you?
Topic: Osteo Bi-Flex Advanced Triple Strength
A week or so ago I posted about the pain in my hips. When I went to my Gastro WL Dr. He gave me two boxes of the Osteo Bi-Flex and told me it's safe to take. Is anyone else taking this over the counter drug? If so, how long until you noticed a significant difference with the pain. Has anyone been told NOT to take this? I am looking forward to all feedback!

Topic: RE: Anyone develop arthritis POST surgery as a complication?
I went to Cedar's Sinai last month for a second opinion to see if they thought my joint pain was caused by a bacterial overgrowth and to see if they thought reversing my RNY would alleviate the systems. They do not believe I have Blind Loop Syndrome and recommended I get a second opinion regarding the ruling out of RA. So basically, in a professional way, he told be the Rheumatologist who diagnosed me last Sept was wrong, that my joint pains are not a result of bacterial overgrowth. He suggested sero negative RA. I am frustratted I was treated for a year based on an incorrect diagnosis. I took anti biotics for six months and have suffered needlessy.
Three weeks ago, went to specialist, he took x rays to check for joint damage, did some more blood work, and put me on some new meds until we can follow up on the test results. I see him in about 2 weeks and hopefully we can get me treated. It has been a year of pain and I am ready to get on a new treatment course.
I am relieved I am not going to have my RNY reversed, but frustrated with the slow process of identifcation and treatment of all the joint pain. I'll post again after I see the Rheumatologist.

I am glad I ran across this post. I am a little over a week out of surgery and am suffering through a horrid flare up gout (which I have had since i was 17) but this is the worst flare up I have every had. I have been confined to bed for over a week due to the acute pain. I also was told I have RA in 2008. All doctors felt that WLS would help my condition. It's alarming that others have developed painful joint conditions as a result of the surgery.
Topic: RE: Arthritis Help
I had WLS to get smaller for hip and knee replacement. I need two hips and one knee. Since I am only five weeks out from surgery, I am taking extra strength Tylenol and in a lot of pain. Went to the Ortho surgeon yesterday and he wrote tramadol but the Bariatric surgeon wanted me to wait til 6 weeks to start it. I still have some surgery drugs but trying not to take them as they are narcotic. I hate it that I am allergic to percodan.

This might be best solution for you but surgery always is not success it may cause other complication too. I suggest you the natural way do exercise and consult to good therapist and have nutritive and balanced diet.

Tylenol is the drug used for artheritis which doesn't have side effect like ibubrofin or asprin and not effect to heart. It is not so strong drug so you please continue to take it.
