Hi Lisa, Seeing you post tonight I had to sign up so that I could post a reply to you. Been lurking for a long time. About 2-1/2 weeks ago I started taking a homeopathic medication that has worked wonders for me. It is Bryonia Alba 30x by Hyland's. It is best to start out taking it slowly and working up to the 4 tiny tablets 4 times a day. The first week things got a lot worse, but I had been forewarned this would happen. The past few days have been stressful and I have forgotten to take it. *knock on wood* I have felt very little discomfort. The great thing is there are no side-effects. I've had an ulcer and know that I can't take a lot of pain medication so this has been a God send for me. The only thing you have to lose trying this is your pain. It is pretty cheap too. 250 tablets was about $8.

Give the Humira and Methotrexate a chance. I was totally inmobile a year and a half ago from Ra and was approved to start Humira along with the methodextrate. After a year of the shots I was up to 99% of previous health. I was taken off the Humira and Methodextrate in an effort to get pregnant, now after unsuccesfully trying for 5 months I got some birthcontroll pills, got scheuled for LAP-band on sep 14 and two weeks later to Humira again. I am so glad of Humira Methodextrate combination, for 4 months after stopping it still kept me totally pain free, only in the last month has it crep back. My RA doctor is very supportive of me having the LAP-Band surgery. Hope the Humira will do for you what it did for me. ttfn Sari

Remicade is working WONDERS for my Psoriatic Arthritis. Any of you RA'ers that are not having success with your current treatment, please check into it. It IS expensive though, that is the only drawback. Robbi

Dear Elaine, I will be 62 in the fall and had RNY surgery in November 2002 and am down 120 pounds now from 367. I have osteo in both knees and have had a great deal of relief. I was almost totally wheelchair bound before and can walk for short distances now with only a cane. Both knees have significant damage and I may consider replacement when I get the rest of the weight off. RA however crept in after the surgery and I'm on methotrexate and Humira injections, that have helped a lot. In my case the weight loss has helped with osteo-arthritis but doesn't seem to help the RA. God Bless. Diane

I appreciate the replies. I saw a PCP who insists that predisone ISN'T prescribed for arthritis and I need to stop taking it immediately. When I asked what to do about the pain/inflammation she just repeated herself about getting off the pred. My stomach is really messed up right now. I don't have any doctor that is giving me any answers or help.

Hi Sue, I have the same as you RA,fibro and so on. I take vicidin twice a day 5/500. I take a muscle relaxer flexiril at night.I take plaquenial twice a day, minocycline 100mg twice aday, ibuprofen 800mg 2or 3 times aday. I also take a stole sofner becouse the meds couse consipation. I have found that sometimes I have to switch up on the muscle relaxers and nabutol instead of ibuprofen. I build up a tolerance or something. I am still not completly pain free but its much better than it use to be. I also take zoloft for the depresstion. I just have a hard time excepting at 45 I can't do some of the things I would like. I had pain in my chest so bad I thought I might be have heart failure,I went to the ER and they said it was the fibro. Has your potasium been checked? I have heard that it can couse chest pain when it isn't normal. I hope you find what you need. Take care Deb

I'm no doctor, but it sort of sounds like a pinched nerve as far as the sleeping extremities go. I've had sciatic pain often, but that was usually pain running down the back of my legs and it seemed like no position was comfortable, especially sitting. I had to get medication for that, naproxen and cyclobenzaprine. Before I had WLS, my ankles and feet swelled quite a bit, but it wasn't painful. My ankles and feet still swell, but not as much, but I am on my feet 8 hours a day. I don't really know what causes it. I know I didn't help you much, but I sympathize with you..I hope you feel better soon! Linda

I am a 27 y/o female, I have lower back pain all of the time, my extremeties sometimes go to sleep, and I have severe swelling in my ankles and feet. I have never had any trouble with high blood pressure, but I am extremely overwieght. I didnt start having the swelling problem until about 3 months ago really noticabely and it has been progressively getting worse. Yesterday and today, it was really bad; so bad that its really painful, and other people are concerned about me too. I have a dr appt on Wed. Does anyone have experience with this, and if so, what do you think it could be? Thanks in advance for your answers and opinions. Marisa G.
