Topic: RE: They found Gallstone...
I don't have any personal experience, but I know many people have their gall bladder removed at the same time as their lapband surgery. Depending on how much pain you are in and how your body is dealing with the gall stones, I would assume you could wait and have a two-for-one surgery. I would also assume that surgery now would indeed cause your lapband to be pushed back. Maybe you will be able to push your lapband UP and have it sooner?
Sorry I couldn't be more help. Ask your PCP and surgeon.

Topic: RE: Pain medication
I have been swallowing pills since day two (day one was the PCA with morphine! Good stuff! LOL) in the hospital. I couldn't get or keep the liquid lortab down. Be sure to ask your Dr., but at almost 3 years out, I take : Oxycontin, Vicodin, Neurontin, and Ranitidine(for my stomach) I have Fibro, OA, RA, periphrial neuropathy, and am just about 3 weeks out from my second knee surgery in less than a year. If not for the meds, I literally would not be able to get out of bed in the morning. The Oxy is a time release-12 hour med, but I take the Vicodin to cover the 4-6 hour span that the Oxy has of drop off and restart between doses. (meaning the Oxy actually stays in my system for about 8-10 hours usually instead of the 12 that people with normal tummy's )
Hope this helps!

Topic: Celebrex & Ulcers!
I have OA pretty bad in my knees and hands and have been taking Celebrex. Last week I went for a pre-op Endoscopy which showed I have 2-ulcers. That explains the stomach pain. Fortunately, my Lapband surgery is going ahead as planned on 7/19.
The gastro doc said the ulcers are likely from the Celebrex and that I can't take it any more. I have been off it for less that a week and I am hurting real bad. What else works that won't destroy my stomach? Any suggestions??
Topic: RE: Back and knees arthritic 3 years Postop
HI Melisa. Yes indead I am 3 months post op and my left hip and joint where hip meets my thigh bone are in pain. I just started water walking and regular walking. I have degenerative disk disease in my lower back which was there before sugery. I still am just worn out after any kind of physical exertion and I can not tollerate the heat well at all. It's 95 or higher here most days. I have noticed a change in my cartilage like it is really stiff and my muscles seem to get over worked and strained to easily. I really do not know what to do if anything at this point, Can't use anti inflamitories anymore so I suffer through it.

Topic: RE: NSAIDS and Bariatric Surgery?
NSAIDs are an important part of my life. I chose the Duodenal Switch form of WLS in order to continue to take them. (Well, that and a host of other reasons, too. *grin*)
If you haven't already, check into the DS. It just might be the answer you're looking for.

Topic: RE: Anyone use Neurotin?
Hi Dan, I read about this new drug somewhere. I hope it helps you. I'm already on 23 meds a day, feel like a zombie all the time, (not that I was all that lively to begin with lol) So I'm nervous about starting another drug that is probably going to make me even stranger than I already am. Thanks for your input. Nut
Topic: RE: Anyone use Neurotin?
Well Well!! Haven't heard from you for awhile!! I still haven't started the neurontin. I'm having a horrible time staying awake now, the fatigue is really bad, not sure why.
I just want to sleep for days, not sure that adding another med that is going to make me tired is a good idea.
Some other little item I just found out about, my B-12 levels last month are way high,
the ref range is 199-732 my results are 968 don't know is that is a bad thing or not.
Thanks for your input I DO appreciate it and hope you're doing well. Hugs Nut
