I'd say any weight loss is going to help ease some of the pressure and pain.  With what you are describing, I doubt your pain will completely go away just with WLS.  Nerve issues are horrible - as I am finding out personally.  I am sorry to hear you are dealing with so many painful conditions so young.

I, too, am pre-op.  My RNY is a week away, today.  I have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibro, myofascial pain syndrome, nerve damage, and moderate scoliosis.  I am in my mid-thirties now and I was budging up to a 50 BMI.  In the last two years I have lost about fifty pounds, thirty of that in 2013.

Talk to your doctors and gather information.  And remember that support is out there if you ask for it.

Good luck!

Topic: RE: November 2013 Update, My Hip replacement is schedule for May

Debra been following your progress, your an inspiration, I just met my surgeon, was approved by my insurance co. and waiting for date. I have very bad knees and both need to be replaced. The right one will be first ,than , the left. I am have the sleeve done to lose weight to be able to have these replaced. My ortho dr would not even consider it until my BMI is under 40 , so it has been a long haul to this point, anxious , and scared in a way too. I read about people like you that has had tremendous journey that has been positive, your have worked hard thru  this but have regained your life back in doing so. I am so anxious to be able to walk and walk pain free. I am so anxiously waiting for a date. but thanks for sharing your story, by the way i am 62.thank s, jo

You will do fantastic I am sure. I am off to the doctors in another 15 minutes to see him about having my other hip done in March.

Today, I am able to walk, over the holidays, I was able to walk the mall  while Christmas shopping. I haven't done that for years.

I am sure that you will do as well. I am 58 and I feel like I am 40.

I had gout for about 4 years before I had RNY  on 7/9/13. Had been taking 200 ml or mg (can't remember what is on bottle). After surgery I stopped taking most ally meds due to severe nausea. After a couple if months I had two episodes of gout and resumed allopurinol. All is well now, but if I am not careful in what I eat, I become nauseated. Have the surgery. Life is better after. I am 68 and have lost 90 lbs. Should have done it sooner.

I , too have problems with my knees and that is why I am having the sleeve done. The ortho Drs won't do anything untill I can lose weight , which I understand why, it is just so hard for me to lose with out exercise. I have finished my 6 months with the nutrician and have lost some, waiting for the surgeons date. I hope you are doing better, but I sure understand the pain in the knees situation. does make it harder. If you have any ideas as you go along on your journey please email me and let me know , and I will do the same for you. Prayers and good luck..... Snowdove
