I ALSO GOT APPROVED FOR ARTHRITIS AND A FEW MORE THINGS BUT I THINK THE ARTHRITIS AND SLEEP APNEA WAS WHAT DID IT I HAD THE LAP BAND DONE. I AM TO AFRAID OF THE OTHERS.

Topic: RE: Hip Pain
I relate to your hip pain completely. A year ago my doctor said I needed a total hip replacement (at age 55). I chose to have my weight loss surgery first to make my recovery easier. I just had my surgery on 10/23. Ultram has replaced the Voltarim I was taking prior to my surgery and works very well. But to answer your main question: last year I purchased a recumbent bicycle. It really has been a life saver for me. I first discovered that I could use this while receiving physical therapy last year. I started with only 6-10 minutes a day and am now up to 2 30-minute sessions. It has increased my mobility and makes me feel better. I rarely (if ever) miss a day. Good luck! Kathie

OH YEAH I HAVE OSTEOARTHRITIS. I HAVE HAD ONE SURGERY ON MY LEFT KNEE WHICH LEFT ME DISABLED SO THEY WENT BACK IN AND DID A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT AND  I NEED A TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT ON MY LEFT ON TO AND TO TOP IT OFF I AM GOING TO VANDERBILT BACK PAIN CLINIC NEXT MONTH. I HAVE OSTEOARTHRITIS IN MY WHOLE BACK AND SEVERAL MORE THING WRONG WITH IT I HURT ALL THE TIME. I HAVE CHRONIC PAIN AND GO TO A PAIN CLINIC. I HAD THE LAP BAND IN JULY 30, 07 I HAVE LOST 29 POUNDS AND 9 WHAT EVER THEY CALL IT OF FAT. I CAN'T HARDLY EXERCISE AT ALL I GUESS I WILL HAVE TO JUST TRY AND EAT RIGHT AND IT WILL JUST TAKE LONGER TO LOSE MY WEIGHT. I ALSO HAVE FIBROMYALGIA AND SLEEP APNEA. I'M JUST SO PISSED OFF OVER ALL THIS. I'M GLAD I FOUND THIS SITE. IT'S HARD FOR PEOPLE TO KNOW HOW IT IS TO LOSE WEIGHT AND HAVE ALL THESE MEDICAL PROBLEMS. BUT I FIGURE EVENTULLY I WILL LOSE THE WEIGHT THEY SAY YOU CAN LOSE WEIGHT UP TO 5 YEARS  ON THE BAND BUT I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO WAIT THAT LONG. I'M THINKING A YEAR AND HALF I STILL DO ANY KIND OF EXERCISE I CAN  BUT IF I DO TO MUCH I'M UP HURTING ALL NIGHT BUT I DO THAT ANYWAY. NIGHT TIME IS HELL WITH THIS ARTHRITIS HAS ANYONE ELSE NOTICED IT? I HOPE SOME ONE WILL REPLY SO I WILL KNOW THERE ARE PEOPLE ON HERE UP TO DATE ABOUT THIS POST.. HAS ANYONE HAD LAP BAND WITH THEIR SICKNESSES? OR DID THEY JUST GO AHEAD AND GET THE RNY TO JUST GET RID OF THE WEIGHT I WOULD HAVE BUT I'M SCARED OF IT SO GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I have RA and Fibromyalgia and I take Methotrexate, Lyrica and Orencia. I take Tylenol with Codine for break-thru pain. All are tolerated well.

Topic: Ultram???
What is your experience with Ultram???  I read something on the main board that concerned me about how it might cause pouch problems.  My pcp has me on it for my arthritis pain and it is the only thing that has worked.  I would hate to quit taking it, but I will if it does some kind of damage.  Please respond asap because I see my pcp day after tomorrow (Wednesday).  Thanks.

Good luck Gina, with your knee surgery, When I have my scope tomorrow I almsot wish that she finds som lesions on me , so I can get my knee fixed too, I know what you are talking about with the vicodens I think I live on them,

anyway good luck and take care

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
