Topic: Could it be ?
Arthritis or something else ? The past week or so my hands feel like I have slept all night with my hands clenched. It kind of feels like my fingers are swollen but they really aren't. Kind of feels like a "pinching" sensation . I really don't know how to explain it. I think I may make a doctors appt this week to have it checked out. I have been taking Celebrex but it doesn't seem to be helping any. I am also taking Ultram but that doesn't help either.
Wish I had a clue....

So did you have blood work or special tests done?. My docs diagnosed me just by a physical exam and me telling them my symptoms.I hate this disease and my family really doesn't get it. Since they can't see the disease, it is hard for them to relate to. KimM
Topic: RE: Anyone taking Lyrica?
I have a sticker, a hot tub, and take 225mg. of Lyrica twice a day. If I don't take the Lyrica I absolutely know it. But, in the 4 months I was first on it, I gained 30 pounds. Those 30 pounds were the final straw in the decision to get a lapband. Now they are off, plus more, and I'm grateful. I did get sleepy, but that passed. I tried 75 for 3 days, then went up to 150 for a week, then after a month, I went up to three morning and night. But as long as you are careful, you won't gain the weight. I just happened to gain the weight over Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I take Mobic. I have a lapband, and I can't stand the liquids, so I just take it with food., I actually take most of my regular medications by pill. I know it's bad, but no lectures, please. I'm also on Remicade.

Topic: RE: Fibromyalgia Symptoms
I was diagnosed with Fibro in 2001 but, feel that I have had it alot longer. I had by RNY in 2007. I have never heard of it being common post RNY. There are many factors that contribute to it that include sleep apnea, stress, irritable bowel syndrome, migraines and others. It is more common in women than men. There is no cure and living with it can be tough due to the varying levels of pain you endure daily. At least now there are a few medications they have found that help relieve the symptoms to a degree. One thing is to find a doctor that believes in it as there are many out there than do not and think it is all in our heads. The National Fibromyalgia Association has some good information also if you think you might have it. The first step is ruling out there is not another disease process going on before you rush into thinking you have fibro. It is an immune suppressing disease and that is what makes it so hard to diagnose. There is no real test that can confirm it for sure other than ruling out other diseases and the manual exam. There is promise for the future in their will be a test to confirm but, as far as I know we are not at that point yet.
