Back and knees arthritic 3 years Postop

This past summer I finally had my backed checked. I'd been having some pain off and on for awhile. The MRI showed degenerative disc disease and bulging discs in my lumbar. Just the past two weeks, my knees have started hurting. Went to the bone doctor and he found bone spurs under both knee caps. I'm wondering if all of this is from something that I've not been doing since WLS. I've not been totally religious on my Calcium supplements but do still take them. I've been on Celebrex for about five months and it's helped. We just moved a month ago to a new house and I know part of my pains now are from all the activity of moving and unpacking. I just turned 41 and feel like I'm 61. Has anyone else had arthritis show up since WLS. I lost 110lbs and thought I wouldn't have these aches and pains. Does WLS cause some lose of cartilage/moisture between the joints? What are you doing to help with yours?

I had arthiritis in my knee before my WLS and since losing so much weight it has gotten better but I still have that feeling of being stiff from time to time as I'm on my feet with my job. More then likely you had it before your WLS and it just got worse over time. Donna

HI Melisa. Yes indead I am 3 months post op and my left hip and joint where hip meets my thigh bone are in pain. I just started water walking and regular walking. I have degenerative disk disease in my lower back which was there before sugery. I still am just worn out after any kind of physical exertion and I can not tollerate the heat well at all. It's 95 or higher here most days. I have noticed a change in my cartilage like it is really stiff and my muscles seem to get over worked and strained to easily. I really do not know what to do if anything at this point, Can't use anti inflamitories anymore so I suffer through it. Rose C.

Have severe arthritis in my lower back, both knees and spinal stenosis, and fibro, also high cholesterol, diabetes and sleep apnea...severe depression, Post traumatic stress disorder.. gadz all that put together looks horrid~ One dr. wanted to roto-root my spinal column.. nuh huh... not there... they want to do my knees too... I know I hurt less when I weigh less... just found out today I have gained back 40 pounds of the 70 I lost. Physical exertion wears me out.. hell just getting up and walking exerts me these days. No one seems to understand how much of a downer this is... except those going thru similar~ this forum is so helpful.... because others have known... others seeking help... others doing better... so many reasons to be here... thanks~
