I have Gout in my left foot and was diagnosed almost a year ago. Most of the time it doesn't hurt but sometime it can feel like a thousand bees are stinging my foot, and it swells up. I didnt get gout until i gain about 40 lbs in two years. I wonder if this will help with my insurance. I hope so.

Gout being a form of arthritis should help as it is considered a comorbidity. I am having problems with Gout now. I have been in such horrible pain for about 2 months. But this should also help with getting you approved if diagnosed by a dr. Good luck. Irish

Gout is due to high protein diets. It used to be in the olden days be called "the rich man's disease" since they were the only one's getting the high protein diets, everyone else was eating a lot of vegetables. It's caused by a compound called uric acid. Our high protein diet can make it flare up. Talk to your doc about it and drink lots of water. Some say that cherries or real cherry juice helps, not the ****tail stuff that's only like 10 % juice. Tomanip

I'm sympathetic to all who have experienced gout after surgey. I have had it 3 times within 2 months and it's painful. Before surgery, I never had it. And I had surgery in May 09 and have dropped a total of 60 lbs. and was told rapid weight loss can cause the uric acid build up.

I have eaten cherries by the bucket fulls, taken colchicine when I felt it coming on and have had 2 cortisone shots... and going for my 3rd shot tomorrow morning. The gout is relieved after the shot - within a day or two, but seems to creep up without warning and the inflammation increases in just a few hours.  Since anti-inflammatories are not on the list of meds we can take, we have limited remedies. Pain meds are okay to help withstand the discomfort, and surgically stapling a bottle of water to our lips is a must, and I'm told I may have to take allupurinol now to prevent it from recurring altogether.

Hi ive had gout for years. As the years  have gone by it has gotten worse and more frequent.  This last time, the goat attack last 7 months my feet so swollen and severe pain.   It finally went away, but then it had made my knees worse, dr said most of the cartlidge have been damaged, like bone rubben on bone.  But what i wanted to say was. i have taken colchicine, and for me it didnt work, they doc gave it to me in the middle of attack, and it never seemed to help. So i stopped taken it. I read somewere it takes it a while to work, and some times it makes the gout worse at first , until the colchicine  actually take full effect after a few weeks etc. has any one taken it how does it effect them.  I have also taken allpurinol. it didnt help even. So far i havent found anything that gets rid of the gout attacks,i normally have to deal with it till it works it self out. Any one have any things that may help with gout. and Im also looking to get wls surgery,  Wondering how the surgery will affect gout in short term or long term, . any info would be great.
