Knee Replacement Questions
Cheryl,
Find another doctor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Synvisc helps but only for a short time.
I was 53 and hardly able to work. I went through the Synvisc and the arthroscopies for 2 years, until I had enough and went to a different doctor because the first one still insisted I was too young at 55.
The knees may have to be redone when you are older at 10-15 years out.
Tell the doctor that your quality of life is more important than your age and you want the replacement. I told mine I wasn't sure how long I would live but I didn't want to waste what I had in pain!!!!!!! He wouldn't budge so I changed Docs and the new one said he didn't know how I was still working as I had bone on bone, and scheduled me for surgery. He's not knife happy but he knew I was determined. I had ,had it with the rest of the therapies.
Remember YOU are paying THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am 45 yrs old now and have never been told that I was too young. Only by older women who say I am too young to hurt like I say I do but they say that cause they feel younger folk than them are suppose to not hurt I guess. If knee replacement is going to help with this awful pain then I am all for it.

I'd also like to know where/what dr you see for knee replacement. I've had problems with my left knee since I was about 15, and when I was 39, I had surgery on it. Well- that made it worse!! The Dr took it to bone on bone, and now they tell me that I am too young for knee replacement. I also ended up with blood clots, and on blood thinners for 4 1/2 years
I've tried the synvisc-- the first one worked for about 4-5 months, and the second one, the doc didn't get in the right spot, and it didn't work at all. Now, I can't even get the VA to do anything but hand me another bottle of pills. The pain clinic docs don't like me, cuz I tell them that I want something done about it. Well, I'm still waiting.
Thanks!!!
Melody
