Rheumatoid Arthritis
Hello,
I know you are not feeling well and I am sorry. Most of the time I do not feel well also.
Nothing really works and I wont go into my whole pain story because everyone has one to tell.
Just wanted though, to share one little piece of information about lap banding.
My Lap Band eroded through my stomach. My stomach wound up in almost 2 separate halves when the surgeon reomoved it. I was in surgery for 3 hours and most of the time was spent on stitching/repairing my stomach. Prior
to the removal of the band, abdominal untrasound, ct scan of abdomen and stomach, and even an upper endoscopy was done. Nothing revealed that there was a problem. Not one of those diagnostics showed that the band was eroding through the entire wall of my stomach.
The only thing that saved me was my decision to have a gastric bypass. I never lost weight with the band. Not evern after 3 years of fills and dieting. If I hadn't decided to go ahead with the Gastric Bypass, I would be dead.
When I woke up from anesthesia, I was told that there was good news and bad news.
The good news was that I got into surgery in the nic of time. In a week or two more my stomach would have perforated and I would have become septic and died. The bad news was that because of the extensive repair necessary to my stomach, the surgeon was unable to perform the gastric bypass.
Lap Band or Realize band, doesn't matter. They are the same and work the same way.
Good luck. Sometimes I think their is something to be said about diet and exercise.
I'm still sruggling with that one, though.
Marie
