Celebrex is more effective than  Arthotec; however, Arhtotec is coated to be easier than Celebrex on your stomach...Although.....Celebrex is suppose to be easy on your stomach to begin with!~ :))
I take Previcid/Prilosec or Nexium anytime I take any kind of anti-infammatory.
Everyone is different and I hope this helps.
I come from a family of OA, RA and just plain ole 'bad bones'!~ Knees...hips...shoulder...~~

I had R-N-Y surgery in 1998 and was told that I could never take arthritis type medicines ever.  After a severe fall and total knee replacement as well as arthritis I contacted the original clinic and asked what could I do about the pain.  They told me to take Prevacid SOLUTAB and Celebrex... I have been taking that combo for almost 6 years without complication.  Now my insurance will not cover PPI type meds, they say most are OTC now...but the SOLUTAB is not...I am trying to get an exception to their new rule but if I don't get it---what can I take?????  The SOLUTAB is perfect for me but I cannot afford it without insurance... HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From what i know many people use celebrex to treat pain. This drug can help you but also have lots of side effects...You need to be very good informed when you use this drug for both effectivines and side effects. Same thing i can say about Ibuprofen. You ca find more information about Celebrex here : Celebrex side effects

My Dr allowed me to swallow it 3 weeks after my surgery. Only the one med. Other meds I still took as a liquid. The problem is that they worry that the shell of the capsule won't fit through the opening to the stomach, if it gets stuck they may have to go in and get it out. But I didn't have any problems. Celebrex is allowed for this surgery and I don't have to stop it prior to any surgery I have had. It is the only NSAID that does not cause the stomach issues that other do.

i am still pre-op but my Dr already said i will have to stop the Celebrex after surgery. I am concerned about it but hoping that when I lose some weight my knees will settle down. ???

If you continue taking in more calories than you burn, you will gain more.  I don't know if you're going to do that or not, though.  That's up to you.
