Psoriasis
I have PA psoriatic arthritis and have been on treatment of Remicade/Methotrexate since around 2002. I recently had Gastric Sleeve. The only effect the surgical procedure had was the arthritis rearing its ugly head, so they scheduled my treatment a couple of weeks sooner that originally scheduled. I had it at 6 weeks as opposed to 8 weeks.
My psoriasis has never returned since starting the remicade treatment.

Hi Robbi,
I would like to know if the surgeon would only do a gastric sleeve because of the psoriasis. I have a severe case of it along with the arthritis and I would like to know what information is available to me regarding risks with the lap band when having this condition. My surgeon told me there is no way for the bypass(in case i have to take steroids down the road). He is fighting with the insurance company to get the sleeve (which is what i want). If i have to appeal a negative decision, I want to be armed with articles, etc. Seems like common sense to me if someone has autoimmune diseases it doesn't make sense to put a foreign object in there.
Thanks,
Cindy
