What kind of pain meds do you all take for pain..I have severe arthritis in my hip and knee..shoots down to my toes. I wa**** by a car about 30 years ago and have severe pain esp when its going to rain. I take oxycodone when needed..mostly at night. But it doesn't last long..maybe a couple hrs before the pain returns. I almost hate asking for a script because my Dr said its additive and doesn't want me to be an addict???!! I am in pain..I am in my 50's and don't even drink or smoke. Suggestions?

I have severe arthritis is my knee, I was prescribed arthrotec 2xdaily.  It is a wonder drug for me as far as pain is concerned.  I was in the hospital for a couple of days without it and boy was I in severe pain, so much pain I was in tears.  They took xrays and a scan told me to see my orthropedic specialist as soon as possible.  After I was discharged from the hospital I took my meds and within a couple of hours the pain subsided.

I didn't know you could take arthrotec after wls?  I was told I would have to give up my pain med for wls.  I take generic Lodine 400 mg 2xdaily.  I have been wondering what I would be able to do for the pain and stiffness once I do have wls.  I need both hips replaced due to severe OA, but no one will do it until I lose weight.

I have been on arthrotec for years with no problems.  My weight loss surgeon was and is aware that I take the medication.  The only time I stop taking it was for preparation for surgery.   It is not on the DO NOT TAKE  list of medication for after wl surgery, but check with your doctor.

I take vicoden apap, it has tylenol in it and combine that with an advil.  That works good for arthritis pain.  I also use those moist heating wraps, and ice intermittently.  I have the lydocane patches also.  I cracked up on one of the posts, saying she patches up all over.........I do to when needed.  I can wear up to 3 of them and sometimes cut them to fit certain areas that hurt.  They work pretty good.  When I'm really hurting all over, I wish Thermacare would make a full body suit of the moist heat!!  That would work!!!
